This build is decent at crowd control and horde clear thanks to its Illisi and plentiful stamina (for force sword pushes), but other elements focus on being anti-gunner/shooter build because of a few too many missions where everyone's brought shotguns, flamers and kickbacks and no-one can handle anti-shooter duty. As such, this build is something of a jack of all trades that tries to able to slot in to most jobs the team needs - clearing hordes, dealing with shooters, and brainburst is a decent fallback against elites and specials.

The Vraks VII is stacked with two blessings where (if you're a decent shot) you can become extremely resistant to ranged attacks. Because headshots are important, Stability is the most important stat here. Damage and penetration stats, along with an Unarmoured Damage perk are also key in order to push the weapon in to being able to headshot all light classes on Damnation. Flak damage would be nice, but at present I have Elite damage because that's what I've been able to collect.
Mobility and Ammo aren't vital, but obviously the higher the better.

The main reason this is a psyker build rather than a veteran build is to combine it with a Deflector Force Sword - which combined with a +3 Stamina Curio and a couple of Stamina Regeneration perks on top of the Deflector's block efficiency bonus also allows you to weather a lot of gunfire, while also being very useful for blocking while reviving team-mates.
(Despite a low base stamina, the psyker has the shortest stamina regeneration delay, so with the boosted regeneration speed, it goes a long way after the +3 from the curio).

As far as Curios, there's a decent amount of health/toughness boost here and a heap of toughness regeneration - it's still not going to be the most resilient class if it does get hit, but with plenty of stamina and stamina regeneration, you can shrug off a lot using Delfector.

Talents are a bit of a mix.

  • None of the psyker toughness regen talents are great for a gunpsyker, but with the Illisi's charged attack, Brain Rupture and Kinetic Deflection channelling block damage into Peril there's still decent Peril generation for Quietitude (which is admittedly also picked to get access to both additional toughness boosts you can get off Battle Meditation), and Soulstealer can really harvest toughness in melee with the Illisi.
  • Brain Rupture is picked largely because the basic idea of this build was developed pre-Class overhaul, but it is still a good tool for dealing with Elites and Specials that the basic weapons of the build don't do so well against. Empowered Psionics with Overpowering Souls allows for a good chain of kills against shotgunners or gunners. Kinetic Resonance is good for clusters, Kinetic Flayer adds more punch to your regular weapons if you need to engage tougher targets with them.
  • Various cooldown bonuses are picked for those in Coherency (along with an increase to coherency radius) because Seer's Presence is more passive than the other Aura choices; 5% extra Elite damage will mostly go unnoticed on breakpoints, but faster cooldowns will get used even if the other players don't know where they're coming from.
  • Venting Shriek is still just good for Peril management, and feels good on its own, without really needing any of the branching nodes.
  • Warp Rider isn't as good as it was, but heavy use of a low-ish Warp Resistance Force Sword can beef up your damage output and toughness (from "One with the Warp") quite significantly in melee.
  • True Aim and Empathic Evasion are less key, but as this build gets quite a lot of weakspot hits, might as well get some free crits and dodges out of it.
