Description
My tweaked version of Pygex's Sail Gaze EP build, aka Assail / Scrier's Gaze / Empowered Psionics.
Taking Quietude instead of Soulstealer changes the timing of your toughness regeneration to be on the downswing of your peril, and with this build you are almost always passive quelling, giving you a constant stream of toughness regeneration topped up by Mettle rather than a huge burst of toughness when using Assail and nothing otherwise.
Taking Prescience over Seer's Presence saves a talent point that would otherwise be wasted in Mind In Motion, allowing you to pickup Endurance for some extra durability while using Scrier's Gaze.
I prefer to pickup two extra +15 toughness nodes instead of Puppet Master to give some extra bulk with this build, since otherwise you can feel very much like a glass cannon. By taking four of the five available +15 toughness nodes you have 120 toughness base before curio bonuses.
This build functions by constantly swapping weapons. The concept is to use the Columnus or Knife to stack up Perfect Timing and Malefic Momentum, and earn Empower charges to use with Assail. After quick-swapping to Assail, you can use Secondary Attack (RMB) for no-peril-no-ammo-cost shards dealing empowered hits that can one-shot many elites & specialists, such as Gunners, Shotgunners, Ragers, Hounds, and more. You can then cleanup trash mobs with Primary Attacks (LMB) to rebuild peril to 85%+ to stack up Warp Rider for bonus damage before swapping back to the Columnus or Knife to restack PT and MM and repeating the cycle from there.
Combat Knife and Columnus both heavily benefit from Scrier's Gaze, especially the former as the bonus finesse damage and critical chance will combine for massive critical hits even against Reapers, Bulwarks, and Crushers.
This build is a lot of fun, but is also challenging to play as you will be constantly weapon-juggling, managing peril and ammo, and are quite squishy.
