What is it that makes a cowboy?

It's not the boots or the buckle.

It's not the chaps.  It's not the jeans.

It's not the lasso or the cattle.

Not the horse or the saddle.

You might think they're all long gone.

But you don't need a hat to be a cowboy.

A cowboy isn't too busy to lend a hand to a partner.  Not too proud to take one either.

And when they get knocked in the dirt, bloody and trampled...

A cowboy dusts themselves off and gets back up.

And they'll stand by their partners and challenge those who have it all.

And they'll keep ridin' til they find their peace...

THE HANGMAN LEX, THE WHITE HAT, THE SHERIFF OF THE INKY BLACK
This build is for every wannabe gunslinger out there who knows The Lex can't be the be all end all of justice in the empire.  The shining 6 pointed stars of justice with a heart of 12 karat gold and a back full of 12 gauge buckshot.  You don't need a fancy electric mace or an XL shotgun to bring the worst of the worst to justice.  Hell, you don't even need a shield.  You got two hands.  One for an axe and one for that big iron on your hip.

LETS GET INTO IT

You are going to bob and weave like your boots are being shot at by a moustache twirlin' black hat villain who told you to dance.  Your axe's blessings will keep your dodge effectiveness at full 'round the clock.  You rarely need to block, and when you do, you got enough dodges to slide right out of sight and into cover.  Aim for the head!  When a horde comes, just keep chopping that tree.  It'll fall, and you'll stand tall.

Your gun has five shots and you're gonna blast em all almost every time you pull it out.  Fan that hammer, treat it like the shotgun you're replacing.  Your gun has less projectiles, but each one packs a huge amount of damage.  You got a high crit chance, and even without it you're pumping out over 300 damage per bullet.  Turn rager packs and monsters into swiss cheese, the latter of which especially works with Keeping Protocol.

When the going gets tough, you have three tools at your disposal to keep you from falling to the forces of chaos:
Your loyal companion: Man's best friend, your dog, they'll do anything for you, and that includes taking down enemies at range when your pistol fails you.  Keep snipers on the run by double tagging them.  Send your dog into a pack of gunners and when it pounces, they'll all get knocked down, letting you swoop in for some easy cleaning up.

Shock Mines: when there's too many armored enemies, lock 'em in place with a well timed shock mine.  Not very cowboy themed, but too good to pass up.

Break The Line: your "get out of jail free" card, knock over an entire line of crushers, ragers, gunners, anything really.  Few things compare to this automatic stagger button.  And when a friend gets grabbed by a mutant, you know what to do.  With the coming addition of regular sized shield enemies, this talent will only become even more viable.

The downside of this build is the lack of melee damage.  But you got 3 friends with you.  You're here to hold that thin blue line when no one else will.  Don't let them through.

YOU ARE NOT A SENTRY.  You are fast, you are agile, you don't know the word quit, and you are there to dispense frontier justice.  Give 'em hell, Sheriff.
