Description
Helbore is one of the best weapons on Veteran, one of the few that allows you to fully utilize the potential of Executioner Stance and Marksman's Focus.
PLAYSTYLE
- Headshots are essential. If you're playing well, you should be in Executioner Stance constantly, passively regenerating tons of toughness with Tunnel Vision, making you almost invulnerable to chip damage at both ranged and melee.
- I highly recommend the Helbore passive charging mod; it makes this playstyle MUCH easier. With max stacks (or at least 10+) of Marksmans Focus, you don't need to wait for it to fully charge – just fire as soon as you aim at the heretic's head. The "Marksman" talent greatly increases your damage while in Executioner Stance (for 10 sec), allowing you to double-shot Crushers and one-shot Maulers.
- Don't forget that this damage bonus and passive toughness regeneration can also be used in melee combat.
- Grenades are primarily used for throwing at your feet; the focus of the build is on Helbore. Always try to have at least one grenade in reserve in case you get pinned down.
- You can skip Deadshot, as it's one of the most... inconvenient abilities, but I like it; it allows you to almost guarantee critical hits even with a split-second aim down sight. Skipping Deadshot will allow you to change some other talents and curios, but I prefer this somewhat risky Glasscanon build.
- You can also swap out One Motion for Longshot if you prefer, but I find Helbore's damage overkill already, and the quicker swap speed would definitely be more useful.
- You don't necessarily need to use a tactical axe. A knife, combat axe, shovel, and dueling sword are all good options. A power sword is possible too, but it's seriously lacking in mobility on Havoc imho.
- I'd also like to point out that you can also equip Armorbane blessing on your Helbore and use a bayonet to debuff enemy armor for your otherwise weak melee weapons. In this case, it might even make sense to replace Field Improvisation with a Serrated Blade, in order to deal high bleeding damage with your grenades and melee weapons even to the most armored targets.
