Nothing Ever Happens in this Build... Version 1.0
Description:
A Skitarii build focused on outlasting the fight rather than rushing it. You anchor the backline, shrug off ranged pressure with the Refraction Emitter, and pick your moments to burst down Elites and Bosses with the Combat Blade and Phosphor Pistol. The whole philosophy is patience: stay calm, stay alive, and let the chaos happen around you while you stay in control.
Primary Role:
Anti-Elite/Boss damage combined with a ranged tank/backline presence. You hold ground, cover angles the pushing squad can't, and step in with focused burst when a priority target needs to go down.
How to Play It:
Against Bosses and Elites, build your crit stacks with the Combat Blade (Riposte after a successful dodge) and finish with the Phosphor Pistol as the magazine runs low, taking advantage of Crucian Roulette. The goal is sustained burst, not isolated hits.
The Integrated Refraction Emitter is your main survival tool. Activate it when the team is being suppressed by ranged fire, or right before exposing yourself to burn down a dangerous target. It grants a full 12s window of immunity to ranged damage, letting you plant your feet and work without worrying about being shot to pieces.
Since the Emitter recharges on a fixed timer (75s, nothing accelerates it), don't burn it reactively. Save it for the moments of heaviest ranged pressure or before committing to a fight you know will take a while.
Why No Cooldown Reduction:
You won't find any Ability Cooldown Reduction in this build, and that's intentional. The Chordclaw (your Combat Ability) charges through Capacitance gained from kills, so landing hits keeps it flowing on its own without needing to invest in cooldown stats. That frees up your curio slots for what actually keeps you and the squad alive: Toughness Regen, Corruption Resistance, and Revive Speed. Survival, reviving allies when they go down, and clearing out the enemies causing the most trouble matter far more than shaving seconds off a cooldown you're already sustaining through combat.
Using the Chordclaw:
The Chordclaw isn't just a panic button. Use it against Bosses to lock in consistent extra damage during the fight, and against clustered enemies where you get the 10% damage bonus for hitting multiple targets at once. If you're looking for a straightforward damage boost in a tough fight or a packed horde, this is the tool to reach for.
No Servo-Skull, Revive Speed Matters:
Since this build doesn't run the Servo-Skull (and therefore no Medicae variant), you lose its passive revive support. That makes Revive Speed (Ally) on your curios genuinely important, since you're the one rushing in to pick people up. You can use the Emitter to safely push into a downed teammate under ranged fire, but be careful if there's a heavy melee horde or melee Elites nearby, since the shield won't protect you from that kind of pressure while you're locked into the revive animation.
Main Weaknesses:
As a backline build, staying alert for flanking threats is essential. Pox Hounds are the biggest concern: a grab pulls you completely out of control of the fight, and the Emitter only covers ranged damage, not grabs. Mutants and Grenadiers are also dangerous from the backline. A Mutant charge can drag you out of position instantly, and Grenadiers can force you off your spot with area denial right when you need to be holding still to tank ranged fire. Keep an ear out for both and don't get too locked into a single angle.
Weapon Blessing Option:
On the Combat Blade, Flesh Tearer can be swapped for Lacerate if you want to lean harder into bleed-based sustained damage. Lacerate boosts Bleed stacking on non-weak-point hits and heavy armor spots, rewarding consistent bodyshots over precision headhunting. A good fit if you're trading blows with armored Elites more than going for clean crit windows.
Curios, 2 Interchangeable Slots:
Of your 3 curios, 2 of the Toughness Regeneration Speed slots can be swapped for Corruption Resistance depending on the mission. Keep Toughness Regen for missions with heavy sustained ranged pressure or Havoc waves stacked with Gunners/Snipers, where you need to recover quickly between Emitter activations. Swap to Corruption Resistance for missions with Grimoires/Tomes or environmental corruption modifiers, where that steady drain can bleed the team more than ranged damage will.
