Description
PERIL SHOCK TROOPER
Become versatile and place up your staff. Pick up your rifle.
Description:
This build is designed to focus more on ranged gun play with psyker. Utilizing the warp charges and the peril to give you sustainability. The goal of this build is to utilize most of the core mechanics of psyker while boosting your gunplay.
How to play:
There will be many situations where this build can respond accordingly to the battle situation, however for now we will focus on understanding the core mechanics of this build. This won't be step by step instructions, but rather bullet points to summarize what to do and when to react.
Sustainability Endurance
- Peril-Toughness Passive Regeneration: Always keep peril up. You will always want to have some peril charge to make full use of Quietitude (Perk I). The reason why we don't use a staff on this build is because this was designed to passively generate toughness while if you are forced to use a peril weapon, it will generate peril not allowing it to quell itself passively. Quelling manually is okay if you have down time, but during a horde you will be constantly swinging and won't have time to build peril.
- *Peril Generation: Building peril is necessary, however getting it takes some time. This is why we are carrying a force sword, to instantly give us as much peril as we want. For this, you want to activate your force sword's special, immediately switch to another weapon then back, then repeat. You are charging and dispelling the charge quickly, reaching from 0% to 100% within 4 seconds. Please note that running Inner Tranquility (Perk II) will mean you will have to charge more to get full peril. It's designed to work with the possibility that you want to have more special activation for special attacks on elite enemies. Trading off peril buildup for high burst damage.
- Emergency Toughness Replenish: A major function of this build will be utilizing Kinetic Barrage (Perk VI) as an offensive attack. However you can still use this as a reason to replenish any missing toughness immediately. When you use the ability Psykinetic's Wrath, it will quell 50% of peril giving you 25 toughness immediately.
Warp Charge Protocol
Usually in every fight, you will have 4 warp charges. If you don't, you can just activate Kinetic Barrage (Perk VI) and replenish quickly.
- Passive Warp Charge Generation: It is important to stay close to your allies for cohesion. Their kills can boost your warp charge generation with Psychic Communion (Perk III). Ontop of that, using Kinetic Flayer (Perk V) will allow you to continue with your gun play without requiring to use brain burst manually. (Warp charges retain for 25s and Kinetic Flayer cooldown is 15s. You will have a window of 10s to proc the 10% chance). Clearing out hordes is almost guaranteed to give you full warp charge.
- Kinetic Shield: You will always have warp charge going into a battle. Having Kinetic Shield (Perk IV) grants you 10% to 33% reduced toughness damage from ranged units to keep you in the fight long enough to get you into cover or join up with your allies. The more you shoot to kill (for passive warp charge generation) the longer you will survive. That is the synergy of this build.
- Inner Tranquility: Making use of the warp charges, you will be able to use brain burst a few more times during your Kinetic Barrage. This will also allow you to activate your force sword a few more times to get high burst of damage on Elites and Specials.
Kinetic Barrage Attack Pattern
The most important part of this build to deal out as much damage as quickly as possible. It can be used at any time of a fight. The start, the middle, and the end. When you see a group of Elites/Specials this should be your first reaction.
- Initiate this attack by activating your ability Psykinetic's Wrath. Utilizing Kinetic Barrage (Perk VI) will allow you to use brain burst with 25% faster charge and consume 50% less peril. This synergizes with Inner Tranquility (Perk II) if you have full warp charges, allowing you to do a few more brain bursts.
- After the Kinetic Barrage Attack you are left with: Peril for passive toughness regen, max warp charges (assumedly), and less elites to deal with. Switch back to gun/melee to continue your attack and wait for your ability to return to repeat this attack pattern.
SUMMARY and TL;DR:
You survive to shoot your rifle.
Your rifle grants you warp charges to endure.
Your melee gives you peril for toughness to survive.
Your Kinetic Barrage destroys all Elites giving you warp charges and peril to survive.
You will kill to survive.
