Talent Tree
Description
Long ago, before the great patch, when the autopistol was used on every class except ogryn, and the Ilisi was the psyker weapon, I loved to play this very specific combo not only because it was strong.
This is my attempt to recreate the build in the new patch. It may only be a shadow of its former glory due to power creep, but it still feels the same, and if you're a new player and want to see what it was like in the old days, I advise trying this build out.
Scrier's Gaze usually feels like a "why does this exist" ability, but with this build, you just press F and go ham on either a horde, a boss, or that wave of specials.
PROS:
- You do a lot of damage
- You are quite durable for psyker. With the toughness talents, movement speed, quick to swap weapons, and not needing to charge a force staff, you'll be less depenendent on your team babysitting you.
- Movement speed bonuses
- Excellent vs dogs, trappers, flamers and mutants due to high burst with kinetic flayer autopistol
- A good build to whip out if you already have other psykers on your team, as you can make use of that ammo
- Good at reviving. Low peril usage, so Kinetic Deflector comes in quite handy on reviving as being hit during reviving first builds peril, and then uses your stamina
- Good vs hordes. Ilisi force sword has a really good moveset against hordes of fodder, and you have infinite dodges.
- The autopistol combined with Scrier's Gaze does better damage to bosses than any other weapon the psyker has access to.
CONS:
- Carapace will be very annoying to fight.
- Your only area damage is the cleave of the Ilisi sword.
- High ammo usage. If you think your team will lack ammo, pick another loadout.
- Shooters in cover, snipers, and bombers will force you to use brain burst, which can leave you vulnerable.
- Ragers you can't escape will be the bane of you.
- You don't really have a lot of ways to support your team other than killing really fast. Other builds can have AoE damage, disables, or the shield.
- Disrupt Destiny, the lower part of the tree, can feel pretty underwhelming if there are not a lot of targets. In that case, you can try to use the Warp Charges part of the tree instead, as it also offers bonuses useful to the playstyle.
