+40-100% Critical Chance on your next Melee Attack after Special Attack Kill.
Enemy gains +1-4 Stack(s) of Soulblaze on Critical Hit, to a maximum of 3-12 Stack(s).
-8.5--5.5% Charge Time on Chained Secondary Attack. Stacks 3 times.
Enemy gains +3 Stacks of Soulblaze on Critical Hit.
Set everything on fire (but NOT yourself)!
As with most psyker builds, stay away from melee if you can. This build, however, can actually manage and excel in close quarters.
Find those big blobs of enemies and charge up the secondary on staff to max (or before they start shooting) and let go. As your peril increases, so does the critical strike chance of your staff from Warp Nexus, thereby increasing the chance of applying Soulblaze with Blazing Spirit. Keep nuking enemies that already have Soulblaze applied for a chance of gaining new Warp Charges. When you have maxed out peril or are in distress, or you have 6 stacks of Warp Charges built up and there's a horde coming, use Venting Shriek. This will apply 6 stacks of Soulblaze and most enemies will start melting away.
Sometimes the staff won't be that effective or you might be too high on peril without a good spot to vent/quell. If so, switch to the sword and spam light 1 mixed in with heavies when appropriate. The same mechanic as with the staff is at play here. Shred will start building momentum with +crit chance and thus applying Blazing Spirit. This is a cost-effective way of both removing enemies but also building Warp Charges.
Another nice mechanic at play here is Wildfire that will start spreading more fire once the staff gets to work blowing up already burning enemies. Fire Everywhere!! (cackle laugh)
2x Toughness + 1x Max Health Curio.
Max out resistance to gunners and then fill in with the specials you are most allergic to.
I like to add +ability cooldown reduction so that Venting Shriek is always ready.
You key ability is Venting Shriek + Creeping Flames. Warp Siphon, Psykinetic Aura and Curio buffs will reduce the cooldown dramatically, thereby boosting utility and dps greatly. Use it well and often!
Essence Harvest will keep giving toughness over time when gaining Warp Charges and Soulstealer will keep giving toughness left and right from big trauma staff nukes and enemies dying from Soulblaze.
Kinetic Flayer works passively and comes in handy more often than not when meleeing.
Kinetic Resonance is a must for me, personally, because Brain Burst isn't viable in many situations without it.Kinetic Deflection is a very trusted friend that lets you "crab walk" out of impossible situations.
|| Options ||
Switch out Brain Burst buffs for Battle Meditation and Quietude
Trauma Staff: Warp Nexus for building crit chance and Blazing Spirit to stack Soulblaze on crit. Switch out Warp Nexus for Warp Flurry if you prefer.
Blaze Sword: Shred for building crit chance and Blazing Spirit to stack Soulblaze on crit. Switch out Shred for Bloodthirsty if you like to spam the blaze sword special and you aren't worried about peril. This will ensure that you get Blazing Spirit stacks on enemies that survive, but it will usually kill scabs, dregs and zombies in one blow. However if they already have Soulblaze applied; Wildfire will be spreading like crazy! :)
Watch out for shooters catching you off guard in the open. Since you have no deflect on weapon or shield, it's easy to go down. Positioning is key.
When enemies get too close, charge trauma staff and nuke close to your person. Smaller nukes that gets enemies off you are preferred (unless you have Warp Flurry).
The blaze sword is a heavy weapon and restricts dodging capabilities, beware of maulers and ragers and use the staff + Venting Shriek to clear space.
Charging Brain Rupture pre-emptively will give you lots of advantage once you start learning enemy spawn locations and listen for enemy queues like charging muties, bombers, flamers, hounds etc. Follow up with a Venting Shriek to gain Kinetic Resonance.
