Melee:

  • Orestes Mk IV
    • Headtaker (mandatory) and Bloodletter. This is for bigger targets. You can apply the full bleed just on activation and hit; you don't have to finish the animation (although it's nice when you can).
    • Heavy attacks and block push attacks for horde clear. Light attacks for single targets.

Ranged:

  • Helbore Mk I: Surgical and Weight of Fire.
    • Best sight picture (with mods and a red dot.. chef's kiss*) and capable of dispatching human sized targets easily (headshots are extremely valuable). Can also do good damage to armored targets with headshots.
    • Bayonet can be used effectively on everything except carapace. Use liberally and spammy as it synergizes with Agile Engagement.
    • Ammo economy is excellent so feel free to blast away into hordes to thin numbers. You can cleave up to 3 enemies (in my experience).
  • Helbore Mk II: Surgical and Weight of Fire.
    • Slightly worse sight picture, but still a beast. Higher rate of fire with even more of an emphasis on headshots, but follow-ups are quicker. Slightly worse against carapace but still reasonable.
    • Perks: You really want at least maniac with preferrably unarmoured to hit breakpoints. Luckily, follow-up shots are easier so you can live with what you get (eat my shorts, Hadron).
    • Same ammo economy and bayonet; go ham.
  • Do not bother with Mk III until it gets a much needed buff. It's awful.

Blitz:

  • Shredder Nade
    • Excellent at clearing space and applying bleed. Use for hordes when you find yourself alone, against elite packs, or to start off a boss fight.

Ability:

  • Voice of Command: use liberally. Staggers everything. Probably going to be nerfed but it is awesome to see a pack of crushers land on their ass or a plague ogryn take a plunge off a bridge.
