Description
The goal is simply proc as many crit and peril (P) based passives as often as possible. This is done by killing as many enemies as possible in as short a time as possible under Scrier's Gaze (SG) to make the ability last as long as possible. Here's how to use it mindfully:
- The reason why SG kill count matters
- P buildup is slowed per kill
- the more you kill, the longer SG
- Toughness (T) math
- 2.5% T per 10% P generated
- 5% T per 10% P quelled
- 10% on kill to quell 10% P
- therefore recovers 5% T per instance
- Therefore there is recursive T generation just from P passives alone
- Every crit gives you 5% T !!!!!
- P buildup is slowed per kill
- Think of Assail as your staff-- your primary ranged weapon
- Otherwise, you'll shred through all your ammo pretty quickly (pun intended)
- Most used in [relatively] low enemy density areas
- Don't forget that your RClick can pseudo-snipe pesky [non-carapace] individuals
- Taking full advantage of Malefic Momentum will take time and practice, but until then you'll get plenty far letting it play itself
- Can be spammed within reason
- Assail under SG
- don't
- always quell P before popping SG
- Shredder is your best crit machine
- This is the fastest and most reliable way to rack up your crits
- good for clearing exposed ranged camps
- stopping power + empathic evasion = suppressed gunners + immunity to bullets = dead gunners
- good in general to small groups
- when Assail is too slow, this does the job as good or better
- just be mindful of ammo
- Shredder under SG
- perfect for clearing approaching hordes
- more crits means more kills which means more SG which means more...
- useful for melting monstrosities and bosses
- because you're not racking up kills, this is a very short burst in damage so be mindful
- switch to melee if/when the horde gets past reasonable gun usage
- also recommended to save ammo
- perfect for clearing approaching hordes
- Melee is your secondary crit machine
- First of all, the Demios Sword is a personal preference. Dueling swords work as well or better in the right hands, but here are my reasons
- Feels better for horde clearing due to higher damage flurries
- shines when specials & elites are mixed in with the horde
- scales with P
- I prefer using the special force attack over the Dueling heavy thrust. Literally just a preference.
- Feels better for horde clearing due to higher damage flurries
- ABD-- Always Be Dodging
- It's why we have Anticipation
- Even when it's no longer "effective" it is still an important repositioning tool
- Treat it kind of like circle strafing
- periodically push to maintain access to mobility
- Melee under SG
- Pop SG to outlast hordes due to Toughness math
- due to the high kill rate, SG will last a good while
- Can be used to save ammo
- Beware 1 hit kills
- your toughness would no longer matter
- engaging with Ragers and Crushers this way is a last resort to be used when it's impractical to switch to your shredder
- force attack/heavy stab if you can
- especially when mixed in with the horde, ABD
- Pop SG to outlast hordes due to Toughness math
- First of all, the Demios Sword is a personal preference. Dueling swords work as well or better in the right hands, but here are my reasons
General playstyle notes:
- This is a mid-line build
- assist front-liners and protect back-liners
- you can afford to be more brave than other psykers
- you can do the occasional dive
- always return to your team
- don't be stupid
- don't be shy about popping SG
- 25 seconds is not a long time
- saving SG for the "perfect moment" will just make you a shit tier Vet
- identifying the sweet spot of not being wasteful will take time and error
- Little room for error
- The learning period is going to be tough. Don't worry about it. This is one of the most difficult playstyles in the game
- "high risk, high reward," doesn't mean, "be reckless and hope you don't die"
- Yes, you can clutch, but don't fish for it
- You are NOT a solo zealot
- you are as fragile as they are immortal
- even under SG, once it ends you'll be fucked if you're soloing
