Description

A build made with the desire to use serrated blade and frag grenades to proc Mercy Killer without needing to spec in a bleed blessing into the knife. It ended up turning out...interesting, but everything here has a purpose.
Ended up changing up this build a bit, used to use a Helbore Lasgun (which still isn't badddd given it can proc specialist with it's knife poke), but after changing Kraxton's Helbore build to look a lot more like this, and also change his Executioners autogun build to be more like like Canary's 'perfect' build, I realized I no longer had a home for my Infantry Autogun I. I still wanted at least ONE vet to use it, and never really felt like the Helbore 'fit' this Combat Knife build, always felt clunky (obviously). So I thought I'd try it instead on this build, no longer taking One Motion/Out for Blood as they aren't needed, and instead grabbing Always Prepared and One Your toes to get some mag prep along with still having a bit of toughness regen.
That was the correct decision I'd say, the Infantry Autogun I feels REALLY good when you're able to give it some fire rate, and even when not it's nice have a slow chunky feeling autogun. Does good damage, complements the knife well, and otherwise lets you be rather liberal with your Weapons Specialist procs. Due to the weapons high per shot damage, you're usually able to keep from having to reload the gun for most engagements, or whenever you do need to you pretty much always have a shout ready to get it off. And all the extra crit and weakspot damage lets it do some pretty high burst, which feels great when dumping shots on specials as you knife your way through the battlefield. Works a LOT better than fumbling with a Helbore lasgun, and makes this build feel a lot more like a 'low to the ground soldier' set up, verses two opposing elements shoved together.
I take smokes pretty much entirely because I need the points and can't otherwise spare them, but low duration smokes are actually kinda nice for this build. With the high mobility and dodge distance, there have been plenty of times I've found myself suddenly in front of a bunch of sniper/gunner lines without an immediate solution, and popping a quick smoke for safety feels rather great. I'd prefer a shredder or a krak if I could, but to do so would drop survivability/knife multipliers, so I go with this. Still works well to me, not like you aren't bleeding everything plenty thanks to Serrated Blade.
Light attack anything with a pulse, remember to weave in heavies or push attacks for REAL damage though. The point is bleed - headshot - kill, or just straight kill if it's a gunner or lower and you crit. Also one is intended to just hold onto their smokes most of the time, they are panic buttons or used to keep fire off you and a friend during a revive. If you use them to much Reciprocity won't be proced and your knife will be severely lacking, but Serrated blade isn't on the survivalist side so SoL. Close and Kill with a knife is amusing though, super speeeeed. A novel experience made better with the addition of the Infantry Autogun I, actually happy to keep this build around now.
