Description
Do you like:
- Going really, really, REALLY fast?
- Aggressive, Melee/Gunsyker Gameplay
- Depleting a boss' health to zero with a BB gun?
- Chasing charging mutants and pox hounds from behind and then backstabbing them?
Then this build is for you.
Difficulty: 4.5/5 (The Hardest)
Not for the feint of heart, this isn't something a beginner should play. This build is for fun, when you want Eldar-levels of speed, not the meta. This build assumes you have good accuracy, decent positioning, knowing basics of melee and game knowledge. Much like an Assassin Zealot, you will need to know when you can leave your team, and when you need to stay with them.
You're pretty much trolling if you aren't at least familiar with Scrier's Gaze gameplay. Despite the tankiness and damage nodes psyker has recieved in the new update, you're still squishy. You'll die very fast if you're at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
A Shield Dome Psyker with the Voidblast Staff can provide more to the team, with lesser skill and punishment for error. I have played this at the Damnation level so I can confirm that it can be amazing when played correctly.
Weapons
The combat knife has high finesse damage. It's good against all enemy types, just target the weak spots. More importantly, you can run at full speed whilst charging a heavy melee attack, making you really fast. The meta pick is the MK6 Catachan Combat Knife, but I personally go for the MK6 since it's more effective against hordes.
The MK5 Vraks Autogun is your boss-killer. It boasts high finesse damage and fire rate. If you manage to stack Disrupt Destiny and Scrier's Gaze to its maximum, you'll deplete ANY boss with one or two magazines. It's important to aim for the weak spot or you won't take advantage of the insane finesse DPS this build provides. Keep in mind, you don't have much ammo, it's not very good against armour so don't waste what little you have, against crushers.
Blitz
Unfortunately this build struggles heavily against hordes of armoured melee, you might have to use Smite when there's a pack of maulers/crushers.
Scrier's Gaze
You'll want to activate this ability before fighting. It's description looks big and complicated compared to psyker's other abilities. But to sum this ability up, it's essentially a damage, speed and tank steroid.
Scrier's Gaze builds up peril overtime. Kill heretics. Reduce peril. Play aggressively. For melee, aim for the weak spots of an enemy to your own peril, and the ability's innate peril generation (By Crack of Bone). For ranged, just shoot. Critical hits reduce peril (tranquillity through slaughter).
Try to maintain scrier's gaze as long as possible, you deal more damage the longer you stay in this state. It will come naturally as you kill heretics, but building up those stacks will allow you to turn bosses into swiss cheese.
You can play risky mainly because of Empathic Evasion. Crits (melee and ranged) makes you dodge ranged attacks. With Scrier's Gaze and both melee and ranged weapon's innate high crit, you should be able to maintain this passive during firefights, so long as you keep playing offensively.
Disrupt Destiny
You'll want to play around your keystone, Disrupt Destiny. Killing highlighted enemies gives you more finesse damage, but more importantly, provides 20% movement speed. For like 2.5s, you become the fastest class in the whole game. If you can maintain that buff, you can literally speedrun the map like a crackhead, and it's a lot of fun. Since the duration is so short I use the speed to chase highlighted enemies with the knife, to extend it's duration and increase the stack.
It's important you kill highlighted enemies via weakspots. The precision bonus from the key stone is only 5 seconds so you need to act fast and with precision if you want more stacks.
In most cases though, you'll hover between 10-20 stacks if you use it right. It's pretty flawed. your allies can kill your highlighted targets.
