Talent Tree
Description
This build is designed for infinite crowd control and massive damage.
Why Voidblast Staff instead of Inferno Staff?
I got tired of the boring gameplay with Inferno Staff. It’s just too easy, and your whole loop becomes:
Step 1: stack Soulblaze
Step 2: take a weapon with Uncanny Strike
Step 3: hit enemies a few times
Step 4: swap to Inferno Staff
Step 5: spam LMB 5 times into the horde
Step 6: look away for a second, turn back — everything is gone
Meanwhile, somewhere nearby:
- a Zealot who min-maxed for Rotten Armour is quietly suffering,
- a Veteran with Plasma Gun and Krak Grenades is still hoping to win H40 Rotten Armour at least once,
- and the Hive Scum isn’t even there anymore — he’s waiting to be revived after catching an overhead while you were looking away from the horde.
In my opinion, Voidblast Staff gameplay is much more engaging. You can’t get cornered, you can permanently knock enemies down, and most importantly — Voidblast Staff is pure STYLE.
In this version of the build, your total damage is comparable to an Inferno Psyker, but most of it comes from explosions rather than warpfire.
Why stack crit?
First, critical blasts from Voidblast Staff have increased stagger. More stagger = easier to knock Crushers down (and everything else too).
Second, thanks to Empathic Evasion , you’re almost always immune to gunners.
Overall, you reach about 50% crit chance, meaning:
- every second blast gives ranged immunity
- and you’re casting at least 2 blasts per second
Why Scrier’s Gaze?
First, for extra crit chance and damage.
Second — and most importantly — you can basically forget about overload.
You can run Scrier's Gaze almost permanently throughout the mission, spam blasts nonstop, and still benefit from 100% peril bonuses (thanks to One with the Warp , Warp Rider , Penetration of the Soul ).
Perks & Blessings
Melee weapon:
Take whatever you prefer. I personally use Maccabian Mk IV Duelling Sword or Catachan Mk III Combat Blade with Uncanny Strike because of:
- mobility (with Warp Speed you’re almost impossible to corner)
- boss damage (since this build struggles there)
Voidblast Staff perks:
- +Damage vs Flak Armoured enemies is mandatory
- +5% crit chance can be swapped for:
- +Damage vs Unarmored
- or +Damage vs Maniac
Voidblast Staff blessings:
- Warp Nexus is essential (for crit scaling)
- Second blessing is flexible:
- Blazing Spirit has a hidden cap of 6 Soulblaze stacks
- Warp Flurry or Rending Shockwave feel much stronger
Curios
I personally run:
- x2 +17% Toughness
- x1 +21% Health
With bonuses:
- 3x Combat Ability Regeneration (without it you sometimes miss Scrier's Gaze by 2–3 seconds)
- 3x +5% Toughness
- 2x Revive Speed
- 1x Gunner Resistance
Adjust to your preference.
Talents
This talent tree is not universal — it’s tailored to me.
You can remove without losing the core idea:
- Warp Speed (just for mobility preference)
- Perilous Combustion (most damage is blasts anyway: in a H40 mission where u have 2.6kk damage ~1.9–2.1M ranged with only 200–300k warpfire)
- Wildfire (same reason)
- Souldrinker (same reason)
Good alternatives:
- Kinetic Deflection
- Anticipation
- Immaterial Focus
- Malefic Momentum
- Empyric Shock
- Channeled Force
- Kinetic Resonance
- Inner Tranquility

Play interesting builds — don’t get stuck chasing the meta.
With enough skill, any build can be strong.
