Description
My favorite build in Darktide. The way this build works is by acting as a "ranged skirmisher", skating around the horde to kill as many elites and specials as you can. Execution Order and Castigator's Stance synergize heavily with each other and are essiential for this build. As you kill marked enemies, you gain extra crit chance/damage, and combat regen. Activating Castigator's Stance will grant you a massive damage reduction and damage, while providing a damage buff as you kill more enemies and giving you free rounds in the chamber without reloading. This build is highly effective for Auric games where you need to take out numerous elites within a horde and allows you to consistently regain your ult, insuring surviability for yourself while also taking care of problem enemies for your team.
It's important to consider that playing this build correctly is important to getting the most out of it. You need to be constantly shooting elites and specials to gain the benefits, and your ult is meant to be used to kill elites and to protect you by activating in bad situations. You need to skate around and "train" the horde and enemies by using the Stance's movement penalty removal ability to move faster so that you can still get pot shots in. If you are not seeking elites or are not using careful movement placement the build will be a struggle to use. When you do succeed with this in mind, you become a hard hitting, dexterous tank that can easily do upwards of 2 million damage in a game, and most of the time you can one-shot most elites and specials with your damage buffs activated.
For weapons, melee weapons can be diverse for this build. I used the tactical axe since you can get a good synergy going with extra crits plus weakspot damage with the node and blessing, but the shock mauls and the combat axe are great choices too (I mainly run Arby Shock Maul). For ranged weapons, the Exterminator Mark 8 synergizes best as its easy not only to hit weakspots, but full bore is easy to hit consistently and scattershot is good as you are often killing multiple enemies with one shot when you shoot an elite, usually a minion beside them for free crits. 12% is still good by itself. Other ranged weapons can work as well. I recommend something hard hitting for priority targets, like the revolver or the bolt pistol. I would not recommend the Mark 3 Exterminator for this build. The Mark 8 is simply better, sorry. Also it looks cooler. (In all seriousness, you need to focus on priority targeting for this build. The Mark 3 does not encourage this style of play with horde clear. It can be used, but it the Mark 8 accomplishes the point of this build so much that it is my number 1 recommendation for the build. I would avoid other ranged weapons for horde clear, like the double barrel.)
Something to note is that this build is an ammo guzzler. You will be taking a lot of ammo from the team. This can be remedied by having a vet run survialist, but do keep this in mind as you run it.
