Description
This build doesn't follow the traditional meta perk and blessing picks but fits a really beautiful niche.
Instead of choosing the usual +Flak +Carapace +Maniac +Unyielding, I wanted to really capitalize on the HIGH CRITICAL CHANCE potential.
With a combination of consistent bleeds as well as flame procs through "Scourge" and "Fire and Fury", Purifying Hatred and Blinded By Blood helps to give a flat damage boost against ALL enemies. This is extra true if there's literally anyone using electric stuff on your team. Because of this, I opted to boost the base cleave against trash mobs with +unarmored, which massively reduces the amount of clicks you need to cut past chafe and reach elites in a crowd, combined with +RENDING VS STAGGERED makes elites crumble without even needing the +damage perks
Melee combat follows a super fun gimmicky pattern where you rev up your axe to start the critical hit chance chain reaction from all your other talents. All it takes is one quick revved-up kill against a trash mob to make your critchance skyrocket from the guaranteed crit hit on the next attack causing bleeds. Basically you rev your axe up and feed it a nice big tasty meal to power it up with with blood energy.
For ranged, with the quickdraw revolver, I employed a similar philosophy in using off meta perks to help bridge the weak areas of the weapon, and then using the blessings and talents to accentuate the tool's function for the purpose of this build.
The extra wounds added near the bottom as well as some of the defensive perks sprinkled throughout, create an interesting interaction where by having 4 wounds, you basically get 3 chances to shrug off a really chunky powerful attack without it actually biting into your health pool that much. For example, if you take a sniper shot while your toughness is low, or broken, it will only drop you down to the next wound on the bar instead of taking out your whole health pool. This basically lets you make a few mistakes along the mission in between medicaes without being a burden on your team. In the back of your mind you have to remember that you are a martyr. It is your job to fight bitterly and bravely in service of your teammates' safety.
Because I opted away from the usual meta choices
I redirected funds towards incredibly strong niche talents, this build does suffer from one Achilles Heel, albeit a very minor one, that being Burst damage against Monstrosities . The overall DPS over a longer period is beyond adequate to fill an aggressively supportive role on your team though. To put things more clearly, the only situations where this build starts to struggle are ones where you are the second to last or last person alive and there is an armor wall or a boss on the screen. You should be able to basically solo an entire Auric maelstrom horde, specialists included with ease under most circumstances, so long as your other teammates are watching your back.
The Achilles Heel of the build isn't a bad thing. It just forces you to approach situations differently.
try to fill a protector role for my team. This build is great for babysitting and keeping danger off your teammates back.
It excels at this function. Your weakness can only present itself if you fail your duty to protect and keep your teammates alive.
While your teammates are playing the objective, your objective is to make all of their lives as easy as possible by diving on threats and keeping track of the silly sheep. While you do this, it frees up attention and mental load for your teams assassins, and boss killers, and pure horde-clearers to shine.
Only use your Immolation nades for armor walls, bosses, or emergencies. In order to be a helpful Hare for your team, its important to let them get first dibs on resources like healing and ammo. This build can tank extremely well and is fairly ammo-savvy.
Also be sure to squeeze off volleys of revolver shots as you sprint towards the action. There's no such thing as wasting ammo if its to protect your friends.
