"I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.
I have been tweaking and modifying this build since the overhaul patch first came out, and its definitley come a long way since then. If you're playing Veteran, and want the ultimate support build, then this is for you.
This build package brings all the toughness regen and tankiness that allow you to be at the front of the hordes and maintaining a healthy amount of Toughness regen for you and your team.
The Chainsword:
I couldnt decide between this and the Devil sword variants, but at the end of the day, the Chainsword is a mainstay among classic Commissars. After the buffs from recent patches, and even after some slight nerfs, this melee weapon is still able to annihlate elite, specialist and unyielding enemies with its special action, and the rampage passive allows you to cleave through hordes to victory.
The Kantrael Lasgun: (EDIT:Switched to Autopistol)~See next
I actually used the Shredder Autopistol for the longest time, besides the revolver, it had the most mobility and had damge near comparable to the recon and autoguns, but the kantrael after the recent buffs just performed better, and had better perks to allow for more damage output to Flak and Carapace.
The Shredder Autopistol
I started off and ended here at the Autopistol. I used it originally for theme, but with the long awaited acquisition Pinning Fire, and T4 Blaze Away, it is finally time to bring it back. With these 2 blessings, the longer you're shooting the more you guarantee that things are dropping dead on your screen. The more recent buffs to this gun has made it come back to life for me, and until otherwise, will be a go to in my ranged arsenal,~ AND it fits the Commissar Theme. 20/10
The playstyle for this build is pretty simple, try to focus ranged weakspot kills and melee kills where needed, and stay in coherency as much as possible, as well as use your Ability as much as possible. Doing these 3 things will guarantee that you are killing things constantly, and in turn-keeping everyone else in coherency topped up on toughness. This build is tanky, but try not to take crusher blows to the face, and remember to lead those troops like the commissar you are. Grenades are not an issue, so long as you're modest with them. (60s replenish per grenade) The active ability is incredibly simple. You can press F every time it is up, and you'll still be using it well to an extent. I still feel like the new keystones are kind of EH. But Focus Fire is the go to for sure, 20% DMG to the enemy, residual global 6% damage, AND 25% toughness/stamina to the whole team (remember, 15% of the 25% gained toughness is going towards your team as a whole with Born Leader)
Ill be continuing to modify and work on my Veteran, any changes will be added here as time goes on.
Edit: Path of Redemption Tweaks
Changed Chainsword to Power sword: I've slept on the Power Sword for way too long, mostly because I love the Chainsword, and also because I havent gotten +2 Power Cycler for the extra energised hits. It makes a world of a difference, and even in Auric+ missions, I'm still sweeping through mixed hordes thanks to Rampage blessing as well.
Changed Shredder Pistol to Plasma Gun: I must admit, the autopistol was a fever dream for me, well performing, but just like melted ice cream, it just isnt good enough. The range and penetration from the plasma gun was just too good to pass up. I'm considering this gun as a mainstay for the time being, but I may switch up.
Krak changed to Shredder grenade: With mixed buffs to bleed stacks, and builds that revolve around it, the support is still there. not to mention dropping them all on specialist hordes//mixed hordes or monstrosities is effective yet satisfying seeing the hordes and bosses melting to 18+ bleed stacks.
The build itself has changed recently as well to benefit moreso to getting out more damage and toughness to help survive in Auric+ missions
