Inspired by this build:
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9a64639b-8b6b-4e5d-9940-a0c9e2bb2dd2/auric-maelstrom-double-rend-free-ammoThe changes I made I will explain as follows:
1 - I prefer a good power sword (and I do have one) to a good chain sword (which as it happens I don’t have one of yet). This I believes makes my build better against hordes in melee, but worse in melee against elites and bosses than the build that inspired it. I do think this is a good tradeoff for this build - I can easily rend down elites from range, and swarming hordes are in my experience a legit threat as Vet, much more so than they would be for, say, Ogryn.
2 - I removed some of the talents for regaining toughness so I could get to go Voice of Command with Duty and Honour, instead of going with the Executioner’s Stance. I feel it is a good tradeoff due to Executioner’s Stance being nerfed, and while I also may have traded away some additional toughness gain in removing Confirmed Kill… I now have the ability of Voice of Command+Duty and Honour making me overall far more survivable.
3 - It should be noted that the previous change allows me to pick up Demolition Stockpile, which is SO GOOD. Shredder frag grenades for clearing out hordes and giving yourself space - and you get one back every minute.
4 - Lastly, I picked up Camouflage in order to make the Marksman Focus keystone far more reliable. Between Camoflage rapidly charging my Marksman Focus and my headshot kills helping, I can charge up 10 stacks quite quickly, making my +10 rending way more reliably active and easier to achieve, as well as all the extra finesse power and reload speed.
5 - I wasn’t sure if I should do flak and either maniac, unarmored, or carapace damage with my power sword perks. Not sure I chose optimally with Carapace & Flak. Feel free to adjust as you choose.Other key points for those unfamiliar with the build this is based off of.
1 - Deadshot, opening salvo, headhunter, and ranged crit chance perk make this build crit a TON. And infernus just stacks on the damage as a result.
2 - The talent Onslaught is excellent for focusing down heavily armored targets - the rapid accumulation of brittleness from it is half of the “double rending” referred to in build name, along with the rending from A Chink in the Armor.
Overall I’m very happy with this build. Hope some of you all out there appreciate it and give it a try.
