Description

  • Power sword- Horde clear, elites and boss damage (all rounder)
  • Revolver- Deletes elites and specialists (not useful against muties or bosses)
  • Flak grenades- Keep for bulwarks and bosses (use almost on cooldown with the regen)
  • Commanding shout- Use pretty much on cooldown to keep your allies toughness high and threats staggered from them

Not everyone likes the original mk3 power sword, but I love it. I've used shovel, which can work if you want something even faster and more mobile but power sword has been far far superior for me in dealing real damage to and staggering ragers, even being able to deal with crushers and maulers with just your melee weapon, that's where this build really shines, when you can be a melee enjoyer that can deal with anything ranged that's annoying you.

The playstyle

The goal of this is to charge into melee, build a single stack of "always prepared" and switch to your revolver to either load that single bullet into the chamber or quickly instakill an elite/specialist. Be aware of the buffs you can build, agile engagement works in unison with weapons specialist, so when you see a group of elites in front of you, you have to have courage and charge right into them (within reason). If you can kill even just a single poxwalker before switching to revolver to shoot them you'll have at least the 25% damage from agile engagement and be able to deal with them so much quicker, with much less ammo. Use crucian roulette with the Hand-Cannon blessing and with agile engagement you can one shot headshot crushers, shoot through crowds and kill 8 shotgunners in one shot. It's nuts. I keep about 2 or 3 bullets in the revolver during downtime for the sake of crucian roulette and hand cannon.

Flak grenades are purely for dealing with bulwarks as they are the one thing that completely neuters your frontline capabilities. Deal with them and you can continue your melee and ranged instakilling.

With this build you're absolutely frenetic, there's no moments of relaxation. You're constantly sliding, sprinting charging towards the enemy. As a rule of thumb you should almost always have the agile engagement buff active when you're shooting your revolver. Thinking like that will maximize your damage and maximize your utility of the synergies within all of these talents and blessings.

You should still stick with your team though. Your contribution to the team is deleting all the threats that are in proximity to them to be harmful. You kill all the flamers behind the horde, you listen out for all the trappers coming behind, everything. Because you can instakill them all. And with the power sword you also have a pretty crazy horde clearer, heavy attacking over and over.

Use your commanding shout somewhat selfishly to stagger things, regain your toughness and that crazy damage buff so you can be a frontliner. But if there's no threats to you, use it to give your team some toughness and damage buffs.

Your only problem is ammo with this build, but if you ration out your shots to specialists and anything immediately dangerous you'll be fine (unless that damn zealot or the gun lugger that shoots into the hordes takes it all). Be aware of the team you have and whether or not you should slow down in order to stay with them and conserve ammo.

Edit this build the way you like, this is simply how I built it without looking at any other guides on a similar build. You can also switch your revolver to plasma and it works very similarly.

Thanks for reading lmao, I've used this in auric games with success. This build feels like a mix of zealot and vet.
