crit build with gun
when you are firing into threats, AI will try to move mobs to flank you, drop 10+ ragers from ledge/door to attack you from behind. this is when Smite truly shines as a 360 degree damage+stun lockdown. Most OP close range ability in the game imo.
Psykinetic's Aura + Seer's Presence makes your Scrier's Gaze extremely spammable, use your ability+gun for mixed hordes, elites, specials waves, bosses, anti-gunner, anti shotgunner everything really. Columnus Autogun is extremely ammo efficient especially with a ammo aura vet within coherency.
For most engagements just left click fire your gun, don't need to bother with ADS, unless they are realllyyy far away then ADS and burst fire 2-3 rounds.
Important: Do not bother venting while in Scrier's Gaze, just focus on killing.
You will not overheat while in Scrier's Gaze and using Smite since there's an inbuilt failsafe unlike assail or BR, but you WILL overheat and explode embarassingly while activating your force sword special or force sword push at 90%+ peril in Scrier's Gaze. Use the force sword defensively instead since with Kinetic Deflection you're immortal if used well.
psyker base crit 5%, 5% talent above Kinetic Deflection, 20% Scrier's Gaze, gives a base crit chance of 30%, add another ~17% from True Aim and you get a whopping ~47% crit chance on headshots.
Infantry Autogun fires 13.33 rounds per second, which coupled with Mettle which gives you 5% toughness back on crit, gives you ~31.32% toughness every second as long as you are firing into enemies' heads. Toughness regen this way surpasses a tank ogryn with Confident Strike. Literally stand in front of a Plogryn boss, activate Scrier's Gaze and shoot his face for 15 seconds then dead Plogryn.
This build is extremely speedy. 20% movespeed from Mettle, 20% from Scrier's Gaze, 20% from killing a marked Disrupt Destiny Target, 5% from talent above True Aim for a total of 65% increase movespeed. coupled with columnus' innately high movespeed means you can kite-fire entire mixed hordes from safety.
Alternative gun: V1d Recon Lasgun with Headhunter+Infernus for a gun that doesn't jump around as much while trying to aim for headshots.
