Your job is to spam into crowds, fishing for backstabs when possible, and spam the relic to buff your team. giving them 20% damage for 10s.
In the thick of fights, you can keep this buff uptime to almost half the time.
Use the sword for all occasions, saving the boltgun for mauler and crusher packs. Use throwing knives for specials and pesky gunners.
If you are confident, you can switch out second wind's toughness on dodge for disdain, giving you more damage.
