if you've been playing darktide for any extended period, you have most definitely seen the zealot revolver+knife meta plague (quite possibly more infectious than anything nurgle's been cooking) and most players using this combo don't know how to play it. this is my build after tinkering with it after a lot of trial and error

 

author's note: i have ran this build before in auric maelstrom/hardmode orthus offensive and completed them with very few hiccups, but this does not mean this will apply to you. be warned!

 

  • primary : the old knife (flesh tearer / u. strike)

for sure take flesh tearer because you will be doing crits every other swing when your buffs are maxed out. this makes light attack spam on hordes incredibly effective.

 

i was using the new knife for a bit but I have since realized the old knife makes you travel faster and does strikedowns, in the end resulting in more dps on the elite/special enemies.

 

  • secondary : old revolver

this thing is still the goat even after the nerf it got. line targets up and pierce them with a single crit and you're gonna be spamming the killfeed over and over again

 

i see people running cruc. roulette, just get surgical and hold rmb for like 1.5 seconds and ur already outclassing the critchance that roulette would give you.

 

 

  • build choices

yes, i did not include until death. 

you should use it if you are still learning the build but its a complete waste of skilltree points trying to get to it when there's still an abundance of dmg output improvements. this makes the class kind of a glass cannon but i think you will appreciate the higher damage output once you can outgrow until death

 

why shroudfield?

shroudfield is the best zealot ult hands down, basically a get-out-of-jail free card with the most insane single target damage buffs. with pious cutthroat and invocation of death, it recharges in a few backstabs/swings

 

why'd you pick 2 skill CD nodes?

recharge time on your ult is trivialized now (as long as you are mixing in backstabs wherever possible). honestly pious cutthroat is completely unnecessary with new build update of doing 80%-ish crit chance at full buffs

 

gunner resistance?

YES! essential in all of my classes. turns gunners (one of the most irritating enemies in the game) into a cakewalk. 60% damage reduction on top of your class perks makes you near-invulnerable to gunner target switching unless there's ~5-6 actively shooting you. if that is the case you should just back up and use your revolver.

 

  • how to play

use light attack spam when charging up your shroudfield, this will give you much quicker recharge on CD as opposed to heavy spam or mixup. remember to go for backstab kills as well since it will proc pious cutthroat.

 

DO NOT RUN DIRECTLY AT GUNNERS/SHOOTERS! utilize alternate routes or we will have to be picking your ass up every time you get bodied by a shooter volley

 

remember! you are a glass cannon, and unless you want to be a burden you need to use your dodges/blocks at all times

 

when you have shroudfield, stack up some sustained assault and uncanny strike stacks on groaners before ulting and switching onto a crusher. if you heavy onto a crusher's back with all buffs applied you will instakill it

 

try to use revolver in emergencies (like a rager rush or long distance grenadier/sniper) since it is a huge ammo drain on the team if you play like a sharpshooter veteran. you also have blades of faith which can 1-tap dreg ragers if you hit their head. your knife is more than capable of dishing out a huge amount of damage to carapace so don't crutch on it for crushers.

 

you can pick people up when cloaked but it really doesn't mean you always should. if you pick someone up in a bomber fire/aggro rager group you should uninstall and go watch some cocomelon. clear out the area first (as much as you can) before picking someone up or i promise you will reincarnate as a tapeworm

 

if you need any more instruction on how to play just look at the nodes i picked and what buffs they give for a pretty accurate description of the playstyle.
