Overview

The mobile turret veteran!

Playstyle

This build is centered around removing the obstacles of using the bolter, while remaining a potent melee fighter. These are the most important tips to follow:

  1. Use ADS (right-click), but be quick about sniping single targets. Why? When using Deadshot our stamina will rapidly decline, and when it is depleted it will stop working entirely. So that means, Deadshot uptime is a priority.
  2. Stamina will be critically low at most times. The fast ADS sniping paired with switching to melee and activating Melee Specialist will restore some. Duck And Dive is also good when you get caught in the open by shooters.
  3. Weapon Specialist with Always Prepared, Fleeting Fire and Volley Adept adds to reducing the reload time as much as possible. Many times you need to use auto fire in tight spots, that leaves you with a depleted mag and no time for a reload. In these situations it's better to switch to the chainsword, kill some stuff (gaining one buff of Ranged Specialist is enough), switch back to ranged (preferrably by using Executioners Stance) and then start reloading. This will give you reload bonuses from Fleeting Fire and Volley Adept.
  4. Use Executioner's Stance often and well. It helps with controlling sway and recoil - the bolters main disadvantages - while also boosting weakspot damage which is fantastic! Sniping Specialists removes 6s from the cooldown each time and Relentless + Counterfire ensures that the current buffs keeps on going as long as there are targets to shoot (and ammo).
  5. Melee: handling hordes is best left to your team mates but you can still chop away at a decent rate, stacking Weapon Specialist buffs that will replenish ammo without even having to reload. When encountering Muties, Doggos or Carapace, use the chainsword special for Bloodletter.

Tactics

  • Bosses: Stack bleed stacks using the chain sword special with Bloodletter and then use Executioner's Stance with full auto on the boss. When ammo is depleted, kill something small and then reload and repeat.
  • Carapace: Stun with single shots and follow up with chain sword special attack.
  • Specials: Snipe with ADS. I usually try to go for the weakspots, but sometimes body shots is good enough.
  • Dregs and Scab: Snipe shooters while using Executioner's Stance and keep the buff going. Depending on you ammo situation you can conserve shots and go melee.
  • Horde: Chain sword light attacks works fine.

Curios

2x Toughness + 1x Stamina Curio (!)

  • Ability Cooldown Reduction on all three for maximizing uptime of Executioner's Stance
  • Gunner Resistance on all three curios.
  • Stamina Regeneration on all three curios, because we really want that stamina.

Talents

Survivability depends on keeping a healthy toughness pool that benefits greatly from Iron Will while Confirmed Kill does its magic in the background. Close Order Drill is also great stacked with Iron Will for toughness damage reduction.

|| Options ||

Switch out Catch a Breath with Get Back In The Fight if that suits you more.

Switch out Born Leader for For The Emperor! if you want that spike damage. I think Born Leader is really helpful for your team. Even though the toughness gains are small, they add great value cumulatively throughout the game.

|| Uber dps option (glass canon) ||

Remove middle tree talents (Iron Will etc) and move them all to the left for Precision Strikes, Fully Loaded, Superiority Complex and Marksman or Stamina Regeneration Boost.

Blessings

Bolter: Shattering Impact and Pinning Fire is great for the "quick ADS snipe" playstyle we are going for. If you want more survivability I recommend switching out Shattering Impact for Glory Hunter.

Chainsword: Rev It Up + Blood Letter is my preferred choice for downing priority targets (Maulers, Muties, Doggos etc.)

Older build with Vanguard, Tactical Reload and Onslaught that was ok but lacked toughness.
