Overview
The Mad Max build you always wanted for the veteran!
Playstyle
Get close to the enemies and decimate them by altering between the heavy dakka from the Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun or chop them up like a sushi chef with the Atrox Mk IV Tactical Axe. By continuosly altering between shooting and chopping you gain damage from Agile Engagement while triggering Weapon Specialist, thereby loading your weapon with ammo and increasing your melee & ranged attack-speed. When ogryns enter the scene, activate Voice of Command to stagger them and then throw Krak Grenades. If you're in a good spot, save grenades and chop or shoot them up.
When there's a mixed horde of enemies, pull out the autogun and let it do it's work since it will tear through stacked enemies and really give you value for the spent ammo.
Tactics
- Bosses: Dump grenades, get close and start shooting/chopping depending on what's most appropriate. Use Voice of Command to stagger it when team mates are in danger.
- Specials and Elites: Get close and go full auto with the autogun. Alter between shooting and chopping. I love denying specials and elites by using the axe special which is really good and reliable.
- Dregs and Scab: Same as above. When surrounded; stagger with voice of command and dodge out of danger while chopping away furiously.
- Horde: Spam light attacks and dodge around.
Curios
1xStamina + 1xToughness+ 1x Health Curio
- Ability Cooldown Reduction on all three for maximizing the utility from Infiltrate.
- Gunner Resistance on all three curios.
- 1xStamina Regen and then mixed special resistance.
Talents
Voice of Command is the go to ability here that will give you (and allies!) toughness, damage and space whenever you need. With a 30 seconds cooldown that is reduced by Tactical Awareness and ability cooldown reduction on you curios, it can be available many times in a fight and gives you area of effect denial potential for most enemies. My favourite tactic is to engage muties by letting them charge you, counter by staggering them with Voice of Command, and then get the cumulative damage increase from For The Emperor! and Close Quarters Killing Zone before chopping them up.
Desperado, Exploit Weakness, Trench Fighter Drill, Melee Specialist, and the already formidable attack speed from the axe itself will guarantee that anything you start hitting in close combat will be dead very soon. Don't forget to switch weapons between kills to gain the benefits of Agile Engagement and On Your Toes.
Weapons & Blessings
Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun: This weapon is a beast! It tears through almost anything, armoured or not. Shoot freely into mobs of enemies but beware of ammo consumption when picking out shooters. The weapon special attack is a great tool for denying enemies when forced into close combat. I rarely use ADS unless there's a distant sniper that really needs to die, instead I would prefer to close the distance by sprint/sliding into close range. The lovely part about this weapon is that normal shots have some great stagger already built in. Paired with Death Spitter and Fire Frenzy lets you reliably gun down mobs of scab maulers or other types of elites and specials when pressed.
Atrox Mk IV Tactical Axe: This weapon is suprisingly good when buffed. The weapon special that staggers enemies is a wonderful tool and can be a life save in almost any fight. I prefeer to almost only use light attacks since they will build Headtaker and Exploit Weakness stacks as fast as possible. Heavy attacks could be used on muties or ogryns when applicable. Brutal Momentum ensures that you can chop your way through horde without a problem.
Tips & Tricks
You always want to be mid- to close range to the enemy to be able to switch between chopping and shooting enemies.
