If you've ever played Bloodborne, this build seeks to emulate that most annoying boss, from the School of Mensis, Micolash. To put it simply, you will be using A Call Beyond (Assail) and Auger of Ebrietas (Surge staff) the most, and running away when in danger or you're about to explode. Your sword should only be used to keep mobs off your back, when you are high on Frenzy (Peril) and cannot quell fast enough, or there is an Elite or Special in your face, and you can't run away. You're not a Hunter (Veteran), you're a Scholar (Psyker)! Even so, use the weapon's tricked out form (the special attack) to deal extra damage to single targets!

So, to start, use your Call (Assail) when not actively engaged in a horde, or you have space. Focus Specials and non-Giant (Ogryn) Elites. Quell as needed. When a patrol shows up, use your Auger (Surge staff) to stun select enemies to relieve pressure from your teammates while you deal with the rest using your Call (Assail). When doing mission objectives, or a Monster shows up, make sure to use your Insight (Scrier's Gaze) and focus the bigger targets so you can bring them down quicker. Just remember to quell when you're done, or you'll down yourself. Don't forget you can run places, so make sure to utilize that! Become the troublesome target that forces your enemies to chase down. But you won't end up like this build's namesake if you play your cards right.

For stimms, I recommend a celerity stimm, of course, unless you have a health stimm on you. For teammates, I recommend a Church Giant (Ogryn) who has a way to keep mobs off you while you cast, either by taunting, or by scattering them (you're using Assail, this won't matter as much). A Hunter (Veteran) is good, maybe either have one who can pinpoint ranged targets for you to pick off, or can rally your team when surrounded. Lastly, a Church Hunter (Zealot) is very handy to have, preferably one who can rush big targets while you sit back and take care of the weaker mobs, or one who can make hordes cower with the power of the Eldritch Truth (God-Emperor).
