Can probably replace chainsword with a knife if you wanna be super meta, I just like it for the SoB cosplay. Curios don't matter too much. +5% health stops you from getting two-hit by pure poxbursters.
Gameplan: occasionally ult into hordes for faster hordeclear, but save one charge for whenever an armour train/elite stack shows up, at which point, swap to bolter, charge and unload. Thanks to the secret armour stripping ability of fury of the faithful and the +50% crit damage from duelist, you can kill crushers in 3 shots. Plus, you can dodge while pulling out the bolter, giving you toughness back thanks to 'second wind' no questions asked. This is the only build where bolters FEEL like bolters. Thanks to your insane tankyness and attack speed, you'll mulch every non-carapace elite up in melee easily regardless of being shot at. Doesn't need survivalist to run most of the time.
You can magdump bosses as well, but it tends to be a little ammo inefficient. If you need to kill a boss, try to get it to aggro on you, so you can dodge and headshot it in close quarters for that sweet juiced up duelist damage.
Yes, this build gives up invocation of death, but you gain anoint + purge + faithful frenzy for it. Swap all of those into invocation if you really want more ults, but you won't NEED them. I have about a 100% winrate on auric with this setup.Variations:
Curios can be changed a fair bit - this setup is super tanky, but you can probably get away with fitting more stamina in.
This particular chainsword hits heads a lot - you could probably swap out unarmoured for weakspot or elite dmg (I haven't had the chance to). Or, as mentioned before, a knife. Generally, you just want a hordemulcher that can kill flak elites.
You could swap out flak dmg for maniac dmg on the bolter, since you'll be shooting maniac lines a fair bit - this current setup does better against flak ragers and maulers, since generally you won't be as relied upon to kill rager hordes, but many PUG parties have difficulty with mauler hordes. Your whole deal is being preventative for situations not every party can deal with - cutting down hyperdense mixed hordes BEFORE they become a problem. If you wanna try this with a heavier weapon like a thunder hammer, swap out purge the unclean or faithful frenzy for 'good balance', since you'll be getting less crits and your initial hit will be slower. This lets you get some tankyness up and running before even making an attack.
