Goals of the build:

  • provide damage and survivability(toughness/stamina) boost for the team
  • deal with elites/specialists
  • make God-Emperor proud

The Good:

  • can deal with almost everything the game can throw at you
  • Field Improvisation
  • larger coherency aura+synergies, incredible toughness upkeep for self and the team + extra damage

The Bad:

  • no infinite grenades unless you want to sacrifice a passive from elsewhere
  • can struggle with hordes if the situation gets out of hand
  • cannot execute griefing teammates

Explanations:

  • Redirect Fire! stacks refresh if you reapply any number of them, so you can keep up a semi permanent +12% damage buff for the team if needed
  • The extra toughness from Voice of Command/Duty and Honour (while it lasts and not expended) can prevent health (and corruption) damage from Snipers and Poxbursters, even Hounds.
  • The corruption cleanse from Field Improvisation will not heal fully corrupted health bars, only partially filled ones. Those can only be restored via Med Station or the Health Booster Stim.
  • Field Improvisation applies to Ammo Crates/Medipacks deployed by your team
  • Confirmed Kill toughness regen. buff stacks and can lead to some really high/quick toughness regeneration.

Why....

...no Demolition Stockpile? (aka infinite grenades)
Not enough points. It's a comfort/lazy pick anyway, Field Improvisation will refill your nades via Ammo Crates. The passives at the top of the tree are too good to miss. If you need it you can switch it with Confirmed Kill for instance.

...no "For the Emperor!" ?

Duration is too short and we are low on points, plus we already provide a lot of universal damage boost via Focus Target! and Redirect Fire! Very disappointing, I know, but sacrifices must be made.

...health instead of toughness on Curios?
Because health is a way more limited "resource" than toughness, this will also mean you will able to "tank" more corrpution. Even tho flamers/grenades will not shred your toughness instantly anymore, more health is still better overall. Iron Will+Close Order Drill will net you a lot more overall toughness anyway.

...Longshot and Volley Adept?

Longshot helps with mid to long range kills. Volley Adept means we don't spend 3 hours reloading.

...no "Only In Death Does Duty End"?
The drawbacks outweigh the benefit. Usually a grenade or the base shout to knock enemies back while someone revives the squad member is enough. In niche situations when you are heavily overrun it doesn't make that much of a difference. This also causes people to "sit" on this skill instead of using it which is way worse.

...no Fire Team Aura?
Because if you are not brining Suvivalist you are handicapping yourself and the team. Guns need ammo. Fire Team doesn't provide ammo. Simple as. Again, we are already providing either +12% damage (which is almost 3x times the amount Fire Team Aura does) or up to 32% bonus damage (to marked targets).

...no vs. Carapace or Unyielding on the Plasma Gun?
There are literally 2-4 enemies in the game that possess these armor trait (Crusher, Mauler's head armor, Reaper's hand armor and Bulwark's leg armor) and aside from Crushers they are not fully covered in them. Unyielding only applies to Ogryns and Monstrosities. The vast majority of enemies we are going to shoot at wear no armor, Infested, Flak and Maniac. High priority targets (specials and elites) fall mainly to the last 2 there fore we focusing on that. The Plasa Gun can already deal with Ogryns with relative ease already.
