━ "Oh, so you're the chosen heavy swordsman of the Emperor to decapitate heretics in this godforsaken world. Tho he definitely has way too many names of Martyr's to remember, I'm sure he will definitely, definitely, definitely remember yours.", the Inquisitor coughs and looks at the Zealot next to you, "Next one, please!".

Primary (Heavy Sword)

  • Heavy attack can headshoot multiple enemies (It has a horizontal and vertical swing). The blessings "Deathblow" and "Headtaker" will make sure you will one shoot multiple enemies with most heavy attacks.
  • You can activate Fury of the Faithful and charge your heavy attack (vertical swing) while doing it, allowing you one shoot multiple enemies in a row.
  • Build critical hit chance on bleeding with the talent "Scourge", allowing you to reduce "Fury of the Faithful" cooldown with the talent "Invocation of Death", so you can constantly spam it to attack enemies with guaranteed first hit crit, repeating the cycle.
  • As your health goes down, it deals insane damage and attacks really fast, allowing you to spam it on armored enemies. All thanks to the talent "Martyrdom" and its extra node for extra attack speed per missing wound.
  • Heavy Sword can stagger a lot of enemies, including armored ones. For example, you can block attacks from a Rager and follow it up with a push and light attack to stagger them, then you can stagger him with normal attacks (A single heavy attack will always stagger them, and each 3 light attacks will also stagger them). With Maulers, you want hit them in the head with heavy attacks for increased damage, it's really easy because of how slow they are. With Crushers you just spam light attacks, just remember to dodge sideways when they charge their vertical heavy attack.
  • You wanna finish off a lot of enemies with the heavy attack because the talent "Viscious Offering" will replenish even more toughness. (+7.5% of you max toughness for each enemy killed in a heavy attack, with 3 of them you replenish 22.5% in single swing, on hordes they group like 10 of them in a tight spot)

Secondary (Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Zarona Revolver or even Double Barrel Shotgun)

  • The long switch animation (Bolter) can be cancelled by throwing a knife, allowing to immediately switch to your gun and shoot.
  • Bolter staggers and deals high damage against groups of armored enemies to clear the immediate threats.
  • When you ran out of ammo, you can switch to your melee and gain reload speed bonus on each melee kill, all thanks to the talent "Sainted Gunslinger".
  • Bolter still needs the reload speed perk to be viable, the Zarona Revolver and Bolt Pistol might be better for sniping a few enemies and reload really fast, but an automatic high damage weapon with AoE damage like the Bolter will clear out mixed hordes the best, along with the sniping benefits of its secondary semi-auto mode.
  • You do not need to always mag dump your Bolter, burst on hip fire for most enemies, and aim for sniping far away enemies. You only go full auto with it when there's too much to deal with melee.
  • The Double Barrel Shotgun can stagger Maulers and Ragers with it's secondary fire (two shoot fire), leaving them at half health even in a 5 meter distance, doing a point-blank blow up will one shoot a lot of specialist/elite enemies and heavily damage those behind them.

Blitz (Knives only for the Bolter, everything else should be Stunstorm Grenade)

  • As I mentioned before, knives can be thrown during long switching times (Bolter) to cancel them and allow you to immediately shoot your ranged weapon without having to wait for its switch animation to end.
  • Knives can be used to save ammo by finishing off damaged elite/specialist enemies.
  • Knives can be used to stagger ranged enemies giving you time to get close to them when your ability is on cooldown.

Ability (Fury of the Faithful or Shroudifield)

  • You definitely want to spam Fury of the Faithful and have 2 charges of it (Use 1 charge and keep the other one as an emergency).
  • As I mentioned before, you can charge your heavy melee midway thought it to one shoot multiple enemies. (Vertical swing for Fury of the Faithful, and horizontal swing for Shroudfield).
  • You can also use Shroudifield, both have guaranteed critical hits to to trigger their cooldown reduction thanks to the talent "Invocation of Death".
  • One of Shroudfield's extra node increases its cooldown to 45 seconds, you do not want to use that one. You can immediately activate near a downed teammate for safe revive and its base duration is enough for it. The "Perfectionist" extra node is for backstabbing, sniping (Zarona Revolver and Bolt Pistol) or blowing it all up in their faces (Double Barrel Shotgun).

Curio (Max Health, Max Toughness or Wounds)

  • You always want extra Toughness Regeneration. Always, no questions.
  • You can chose the curio's blessing between Max Health, Max Toughness or Wounds.
  • This build can be run with 4 to 7 wounds, tho I recommend only 4 wounds with additional health for survivability. If you're good at dodging and wouldn't be intentionally let yourself at low health you can run 7 wounds for increased damage and insane melee attack speed as your health goes down. (Even as martyr, you're supposed to avoid as much damage as possible and heal yourself, don't be a heavy weight to your team.)

Team's Composition

As with every build, you should complement your team composition. A good team's composition need at least one of each:

  • Precision Damage (Sniping, for taking out enemies away from each other)
  • High Damage (Immediately delete button for armored enemies)
  • AoE Damage or Sustained Damage (Explosives or Automatic Weapons, to clear out mixed hordes)
  • Cloud Control (To stagger enemies and give your team more space to act)

You can fill of any those roles by switching your ranged weapon. (Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Zarona Revolver or Double Barrel Shotgun)

Your melee weapon is perfect, keep it.
