Description

[Description is a work in progress]

This is a well rounded build aimed at people who are either struggling at Psyker in higher levels or want a fun and easy Inferno Staff build. This setup has full coverage -- Wave Clear, Picking power for Special/Elite killing, Decent Damage into Monsters as well as Captains, and a lot of Toughness Generation. The goal is to be completely self-reliant when it comes to threats, and as such is designed to be the core damage dealer for your team.

With the changes being made to the class, Psykers have lost a bit of melee damage from the tree but have gained a total of +5% damage to staff attacks. Because of the changes the game has overall become easier for any non-melee Psykers as the flexibility and total amount in the defensive options on the class has increased. This build is a rendition of the more considerable META Psyker build, the difference being that you now actually have better picking power by using Assail over Brain Rupture and it's Kinetic Flayer upgrade due to having increased blitz damage on the tree. Now you can actively swap from your staff and zone in on further enemies you'd want to remove more immediately than just watching and hoping that they burn out. Since we are using Assail, Warp Splitting is a decent addition as it adds to add clear when things are already on fire but there are also some techs that can be used to hit and kill more enemies due to the cleave you get through this talent. If you would like to move the point somewhere else, you aren't missing out on much.* The blitz of choice also just allows you to generate peril faster for your peril buffs which is a natural bonus to the build's cohesion.

*Technique explained: For Assail you can toss them into crowds and have them cleave normally for one mode. The other mode allows you to focus in on a target at the cost of additional peril. What the game does not tell you is that you can toss Assail anywhere, crowd or otherwise and then use the alternate mode without casting by holding RMB and the projectiles will hone in on the highlighted targets.

Between the staff and blitz you have coverage against all enemies except Ogryn Crushers. The combo even deal decent damage to bosses and the extra peril will help with your swap into melee. You do not have the highest Monster and Captain killing capability, but with the defense options and the fact that most all other distractions will usually be culled, you should have an easier time dealing with these targets. The melee of choice is the Dueling sword and not the Combat Blade because I rather have fighting power over pure mobility. The Dueling Sword is known for its good killing power into Crushers and other armored enemies as well as Monster due to it's damage output in comparison to the Combat Blade.

In terms of damage and defense we get to take basically the best of both worlds now, being able to have posible stun immunity, with 10% Damage Reduction along with ranged immunity on crits -- all of this is also coupled with a  metric ton of toughness generation. Our Blitz of choice now gets a +35% damage boost between the 2 new talents along with all of our warp damage picking up rending. Overall the patch has allowed Psykers to be more survivable while also buffing the strongest mechanic in the entire game, SoulBlaze.

Most other things are self-explanatory:  We really want toughness! It helps you continue to barrage the map with blue flames.

  • Soulstealer + Souldrinker + Quietude + Mettle = all the Toughness Generation we will ever need/want
  • One with the Warp + Immaterial Focus = our Toughness Damage Reduction and Health Damage Reduction

Warp Rider is just passive Damage which you can play around along with Penetration of the Soul. The new talent Focused Warp along with the other 2 will feed into Psykinetic Grip which will buff Assail to new heights that weren't achievable before.

As the Inferno Staff is probably the easiest and most simple weapon to use in the game while being the strongest option on the Psyker, hopefully this update on the old build transitions well for newer and older players alike as it still uses many of the more META talent options from before
