You can just call this build AID for short as that is what you are, AID, help for your team in one of the best ways you can, replenishing their toughness. First off lets start with our weapons simply put we are going to be using a mix of melee and ranged with the best melee weapon in the game and no I'm not talking about the devil claw sword I'm referring to the tiny knife on the end of your gun. Don't underestimate this thing it will kill elites and specials faster than most melee weapons can apply brittleness very fast stun locks both raggers and maulers and has an attack speed only challenged by the knife in terms of speed. There is no overestimating this weapon and its ability to destroy anything that comes your way and the best part? Your primary weapon has a gun attached to it and its not half bad either. One of the most ammo efficient guns in the game paired with good damage decent mag size and reload speed. Its only notable drawback? equip time. But we aren't going to concern ourselves with that now are we? After all we have no intentions of putting it away unless we are throwing a grenade or fencing with a chaos spawn. And yes i do mean fencing as there is a reason we bring the devils claw sword and its not for looks. Simply put there is ONE downside to the God tier weapon that is the Lucius MK V Helbore Lasgun and its Hyper aggressive enemy's which either include Chaos spawns or groups of raggers and i do mean groups of them like 15-20 in which case use grenades obviously but Chaos spawns aren't as easily dealt with and so you have your parry button to smack its face repeatedly while it fruitlessly tries to attack you other than this two occasions there is no reason to bring out anything else besides your best friend the helbore. Now just because you have the weapon made by the emperor himself doesn't mean your invincible but you can surely make it so nothing else is but lets fix that shall we? first off on our lines of defense is close order drill and confirmed drill. Simple stuff so far no one is surprised so we continue on as normal picking up shredder frags on our way, NOT KRAKS. Don't get me wrong kraks are fun but they are only really useful against three enemy types carapace, monstrosity's, and unyielding. Now are these enemy's numerous in damnation? Yes very much so, but you know what's easier than killing a group of crushers in the midst of a mixed horde? Killing a pack of crushers. Just a pack of Crushers. By going with frags everything that makes killing crushers hard is dead or bleeding to death while trying to get off the floor. And by selecting frags you start with 3 instead of just 2 and everyone enjoys more boom boom but if you have an artistic fetish for kraks it doesn't break the build so go ahead i guess just don't blame the build for when you get swarmed by dreg raggers and poxwalkers have your stamina break due to you panicking and switching to your devils claw to try and parry them get three of them dead then get subsequently stun locked into your grave. Next up we have Covering fire, grenade tinkerer, and catch a breath. Feel free to neglect these if you want though it does help a lot with the build and gives helps with keeping your teammates alive and giving them a nice damage boost while also giving your nades of choice a good buff. As for Catch your breath, you could instead go for Get back in the fight instead as it really is personnel preference but I've come to like Catch your breath as more times than not I will have a gun fight against multiple gunners at medium to long range while a horde is not present and having that toughness regen is very convenient as with the amount of toughness we will have will allow us to effectively shove our face in a barrel and still be fine, for a short time at least but it also is a great way to quickly get back toughness after a fight when nothing is close but there are still some shooters around. Next up is Field improv, Demolition stockpile, grenadeir, and leave no one behind. Field improv is not a choice, run it as its an amazing perk that can absolutely clutch up for you especially in regards to ammo boxes refiling grenades as yes there is a lot of things in the game with a lot of health and lots of them but i have yet to come up against something that can survive 20 frag grenades or if you have a cooperative ogryn, five nukes. Now as for the others I feel I need not explain why you need them but as some of you may not see the need for the perk Leave no one behind let me break it down for you. You are a support in the sense that you kill a lot of stuff and regen a lot of toughness for your teammates but as always there is a chance that little Timmy gets stuck in a place he shouldn't be at a time that is inconvenient and yes you can shout and that's great, good work but now what? Well you didn't pick up the perk that revives teammates as that increases the cooldown so i guess you have to pick him up the old fashion way right? Well now you can do that faster and with the combination of perks from you curios WAY faster and the speed boost of moving towards an injured teammate stacks additively with the movement speed buff of your melee, that is to say your Helbore Lasgun melee. Oh did i forget to mention that? Sorry the list of BS stuff this weapons does is just to large to remember but I will tell you this, the speed boost for the Lasgun only lasts a few seconds and deteriorates over time rather quickly. To get around this just simply stop running for just a moment then start running again as if you were to tap the sprint button mid sprint. I should also mention that you will move faster regardless of if you have stamina or not, handy right? Next voice of command and its perk that gives you and your teammates an additional 50 toughness that stacks onto of their normal toughness and is calculated in regards to your toughness regen perks such as confirmed kill. Now we move on to the spicy part of the build, born leader. Now I know what your thinking and no, for the emperor is not better, is it good? Sure but it only lasts 5 seconds and is a mere 10% damage buff. Not a lot of stuff you can do with that especially due to the fact its locked behind using your ability and I know for a fact if there is a veteran out there that uses their shout specifically for 10% damage boost for 5 seconds they are doing so in sedition difficulty. That being said Born leader is a great pick as it takes advantage of our CHUNKY toughness supply. At the end you should have something close to 271 toughness when playing standard missions "non havoc missions". Now when taking this into account we regenerate 27.1 toughness from confirmed kill and a further 54.2 toughness over ten seconds to ourselves and our teammates get 4.07 toughness instantly and a further 8.13 toughness over 10 seconds. Now i know this may not sound like a lot but bear in mind we shouldn't just have one stack as this perk does stack additively with itself and personally i can get several stacks in a short period of time ( you just need to kill another elite or special in 10 seconds) I can easily have up to 5-6 stack of confirmed kill at a time so taking this into account we just multiply every thing by 5 and suddenly we have regenerated 135.5 toughness from the burst toughness alone and 271 toughness from just the over time effect alone to ourselves over 10 seconds ( hey that's our max toughness isn't it?). Our teammates would get 20 toughness from the initial burst of each kill and 40.65 toughness over the course of 10 seconds which is 4 toughness a second! Now when we shout this is amplified further as now we have 321 toughness we would get 32.1 toughness each burst on elite or specialist kill and our teammates would get 4.82 from the burst and as for the over time effect we would get 64.2 toughness over 10 seconds and our teammates would get 9.63. Multiplying this by 5 as we did earlier burst toughness for us goes to 160.5 for our teammates its 24.1 and over 10 seconds its 321 for us and 48.15 which is 4.815 a second though I'm not sure if it rounds up or down. Now for the rest of the build we have Tactical Awareness and Demolition team. I think everyone knows why we pick these so moving on we have iron will which as you could imagine is rather insane since it stacks (albeit multiplicatively) with close order drill. So the first 67.75 toughness points are protected by iron will will have 66.5% toughness damage reduction meaning if you took 100 toughness damage you would instead take 33.5. Even without close order drill we can take a Mauler overhead straight to the face and still be standing on damnation which you could do with just one +25 toughness node though I've had some inconsistency's with it and plus the other +25 toughness node is right there so why not? We take Close order kill zone as it gives us a nice damage boost but more importantly for a respectable amount of time of 10 seconds and finally we take desperado as it works with our Lasgun melee. For anyone that would say this build isn't good I've been using it since a little after the secrets of the machine god patch and have been able to casually do damnations with music blasting in my ears and never going down since then so if you believe that not only is it not good but it is in fact bad, I'm sorry mate you are either not using it properly, don't have the skill to use it properly, or we are all in the psyker's dream and nothing makes sense. Should be noted that an alternative to this build does exist that utilizes infiltrate instead of voice of command and its rather similar but since you need one more point to get the extra charge on it we would then neglect covering fire as even though its very easy to trigger (just shoot something you have your gun/melee out or at least should) the grenade buffs are just too good to leave behind. Feel free to use it if you prefer a safer play style or one that has the ability to react more often than the shout version as I've found shout to be great but sometimes stuff hits the fan and shout is on cooldown so having the extra charge is handy. Also for some reason under handing grenades doesn't break stealth as of 12/6/2024 so feel free to hit infiltrate, walk up to Timmy, blow up everything around Timmy, then save Timmy all while concealed.
