A build crafted to maximize the potential of the Devil Sword on the veteran. Now that Serrated Blade just gives your not as hard hitting but fast attacking weapons a 'goal' so to speak (now that it gives 2 bleed stacks so you'll actually see it's effects before the target dies), I felt like I wanted a melee build for each of those types of weapons, and Devils Sword was the 'last one' (the tactical axe is worthless, Power Sword/chain weapons 1 shot so no need for bleed, and the power maul is the power maul). And since I went about combining my two Infantry Autogun builds together into one, I now have the open slot in order to freely make one without feeling 'bad' about it!To that end, I decided to focus rather heavily on 'using the sword as much as possible', as such I went with Smoke Grenades and Weapon Specialist. Smokes keep gunfire off you so you can focus all your energy and toughness on parry's, Weapon Specialist gives you more attack speed and dodge distance, all very useful stuff. This build ended up looking similar to 'Double-Barrel Specialist' on Canary, so to change that a little bit I grabbed Tactical Reload and the movement speed pip since the Devil Sword has plenty of Stamina already. One Motion isn't entirrrely, needed though, but it helps, and one doesn't need Rending/Precision Strikes to two shot a crusher with the Revolver, so it all works out fine in the end. Having faster reload speed helps against Monstrosities too, especially beasts of Nurgle. When it comes to the Devil Sword itself, main bread and butter is either just spamming light attacks or spamming heavy attacks. Light give you diagonals and down slashes, heavies give you completely horizontal sweeps, and doing a heavy/light swing will give you diagonals an horizontals. These attack strings being the main reason I use the Devil Sword I over the other two, as it's the most effective at ad clear to me. Beyond that, On Your Toes and Shout keep your toughness topped off along with Confirmed Kill, and I use shout mainly for the golden toughness to allow for much safer parry's when stuck in a horde. With golden toughness you can parry even a whole horde of ragers and not feel it, which feels great especially when that results in bleed being applied to the whole wave. It's very useful. Beyond that, main thing to remember is that you can parry basically everything. Monstrosities (parry fights with Plague Ogryns are super fun, and even Demonhosts can be parried), Crusher/Mauler overheads, Bulwark smacks, all can be parried. Main way to deal with said Bulwarks is to parry a strike from them, as it will often nock their shield away and then you can either slash them a bunch to stack bleed and kill them that way, or shoot them in the dome to drop them too.Otherwise, just hide in your smoke cloud and slash away, killing all with bleed and parries. Pot shot any shooters for increased attack speed and to clear them out for your team, two shot armor with patient shots, and enjoy a 'defensively aggressive' veteran melee playstyle.
