Believe it or not, at one point when Darktide first came out, the Ogryn was considered an OP class at the start with its massive amounts of toughness. Of course, this was way back with the original talent tree 1.0 before the rework. This build, IMHO, comes about as close to what it felt like playing Ogryn on the original talent tree. You've got oodles of toughness (+95 Toughness boost) and massive amounts of toughness regen as long as you keep your melee DPS up. Of course, ordinarily the Ogryn needs stuff to hit in order to keep the toughness regen going. But never fear, even in ranged combat situations you have the Steady Grip talent to ensure a instant 5% toughness regen by simply bracing your ranged weapon by holding down the right click. Just find some nearby cover and take a breather for about 10 seconds to top off your toughness back to full. As long as you keep an eye on your toughness and hop into cover or dodge back to get some space from the horde you can simply shoulder your ranged weapon and top off your toughness at any time, making you very tanky despite the lack of a shield. Once you get the hang of it, it's is actually a talent that is quite comparable to the Shout Veteran\Zealot's Holy Light in terms of Toughness Regen. And if you hop into a Psyker's Bubble shield and shoulder your gun, your toughness will almost instantly restore to full. Don't sleep on the Steady Grip talent, it's a must have in practically every build IMHO. Of course the Ogryn can slap with some massive heavy hits thanks to the Branx Delver's Axe. At first it might seem the biggest Branx pickaxe is too slow to manage in a hectic ambush. But once you get the timing of the attack chains down you'll find that this Branx pickaxe has no problem with keeping your slots cleared. The Branx starts off with a massive single target heavy attack and then can be followed up with a quick overhead light attack. Hold the LMB and release for a heavy hit, then quickly triple tap to follow-up with a light, and then hold again to immediately go back to a heavy overhead attack. So, it's just Long Click -> Triple tap -> Long Click -> Triple tap (rinse and repeat). It is very easy to then transition into a crowd control stance by doing a push attack by holding down the right mouse button and then simultaneously holding down the left mouse button, and then release the right mouse while still holding down the left, and finally you can let go of the left click to do a sweep attack. It's like you are rolling from the right to the left mouse button. You will do a push and then a wide sweeping attack that has enormous amounts of stagger. This is great for dealing with dogs BTW as you can push the dog off you and then quickly follow-up with a sweeping attack to kill it. Quickly follow-up by holding down the RMB for a heavy attack and then follow-up with the triple tap light attack combo. When you do this right after the push attack you'll instantly switch into the Vanguard stance for a series of wide sweeping crowd control attacks. Switch to this stance to deal with Pox Walkers and Bruisers. Then, if an elite or a specialist pops back out, quickly return to your Strike Down attack, just simply double tap your RMB to block cancel and then return back to the Long LMB -> Triple tap combo. Remember that the damage output scales up dramatically with continuous heavy hits. So, you must get stuck in and keep the DPS going with repeated heavy attacks in order to build up your Heavy Hitter and Head Taker stacks. And if you hold down the heavy attack button longer to build 3 full stacks of Thrust once you got all 5 of your Heavy Hitter stack going, you can literally one shot Crushers and huge chunks off of Monsters and Bosses. But all in all, it's really just one combo you have to remember and two stance changes, very simple. So simple even an Ogryn can do it.Finally, the Ogryn has long been an all-rounder in many regards and this build lives up to that archetype. We are a bit of a zealot that can pump out enormous single target damage to handle carapace and unyielding enemies. We are a bit of a crowd control class with the ability to bull rush and break out from any encirclement by an ambush. And with our vanguard attacks we can squash a mob in no time. We are a bit of a support class with our hidden ability to resist knockback effects while picking friends up off the ground. And with the OG Big Box of Hurt grenades we can lay down a big AOE attack to suppress the enemy when things get out of hand. Don't forget that the Big Box of Nades can also be used like a Big Rock in a pinch as it will do huge single target damage to anything you hit directly with the box. And we are also a bit of a long range sniper with the Kickback as you can simply point the crosshair in the general direction of the specialist off in the distance and pull the trigger and get a hit. In some regards, it's easier for the Ogryn to counter-snipe the sniper than anybody else in the middle of a hectic melee since you can just flip to your gun and flick a shot at a sniper in the distance. There are also some nice debuffs to enemies that this build provides with the Soften Them Up talent. This instantly gives all enemies that you hit a 15% extra damage debuff which benefits your whole team. And this is a bleed build as well so, really it’s just important to just keep hitting stuff to maximize your full potential. To play this Ogryn build successfully: Keep the DPS pumping in order to maintain toughness and build your Heavy Hitter\Bleed\Head Taker stacks, use your Bull Rush often to increase your attack speed and further enhance DPS and maintain Crowd Control, and Support your team by utilizing the immunity to Knock Back effect buff and the Big Box of grenades when picking people up.
