Description
This is my personal favorite Psyker build, although I will admit it's essentially a crit chance Zealot build with more blue on your screen.
In essence, it is an all rounder build. You have enough finesse damage to take care of even carapace in melee, given you hit their heads. The revolver is something to quickly switch to and snipe specials before switching back to melee immediately, because if you're slow you die to everything. The mark of greatsword this build uses is tailored to single targets, but with how much headshot damage you have it'll feel like you have Brutal Momentum applied, and the activated special is more than enough to make up for it when it comes time to hordeclear.
The idea is to constantly be in Scriers Gaze or at max peril in general. Rush in, take out a few priority targets, then dodge and slide your way back to your team once you draw aggro. Smite is only to be used to cover a res, to stagger a pack of Crushers, or to make Bulwarks regret picking the meta Ogryn weapon. Do not be afraid to block and run away in a pinch, you have enough stamina to fuck around and Kinetic Deflection will be your best friend once the Director curses you with Ragers. You want to dance around them just as you do for your beloved, only going in aggressively once you're in Scrier's Gaze.
You will be hurt. You can kill any elite fast enough that they wont matter, but the insidious little shits known as poxwalkers surrounding you will make you pay for it. On a good day you will have ~60% toughness damage resist, but such things are at the whims of your beloved and cant be relied on. Managing your dodges is essential, but is made easier by the fact that you can block everything as if you were an Ogryn except for Crusher and Mauler overheads. Manifest Destiny is your main toughness regeneration, so be sure to confuse your team by listening to the voices in your head and go for that one random poxwalker instead of the Crushers kicking your poor downed Veterans' skull in.
There is much you can customize with this build, and many suboptimal choices you can correct. Assail would be a better choice in general to take out enemy shooters, but I have too much hatred for Bulwarks to change off of Smite. Battle Meditation is a poor choice as you want to be in high peril, but I feel naked without taking that extra +15 toughness node to its' left. Dueling Sword is the obvious choice when it comes to crit chance melee builds, and would likely pair well with Warp Splitting, but momma ain't raise no bitch and the greatsword is cool.
All in all, this is a fun build that I've found success with in Aurics and up to Lvl 25 Havocs. This build requires near perfect gameplay from the player, but rewards you with big numbers on the scoreboard at the end of the mission (you'll know the build is working when your overkill damage matches your normal damage stat). Off-meta, inexplicable, but surprisingly effective. Just as a Psyker should be.
