 ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

  1. How to play Pyro TF2?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Pyro TF2 is a simple to pick up class but hard to master. This will be no different. You will likely fall back on your team more times than you'd like to. And that is completely okay!
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

This class (zealot) often specializes in rushing down enemies with your big'ol melee weapon and bonking people to one's heart content. However-- I wanted to imitate Pyro playstyle when playing this zealot so instead, we will rely on our team to do the damage part while we help them around.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Pyro is a generalist class, leaving a lot of room to experiment with how you want to play the game, so to reflect that we work towards making you both viable in lone fighting and with the team.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

‎‎There are objectively things that you will suck at with this build. Range is one of those. Namely Snipers. Sniper will kill you. Very easily. So keep that in mind and try to communicate with your team whenever you see one.

  2. Where lies survivability of this build?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Good question! Let's discuss. Zealots have this very awesome mindset of just running into hordes and slaughtering everything (unless they are playing stealth then... yeah), but our job is to keep them alive, along with all the teammates and yourself.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

So to achieve this we have to both play to our strengths and weaknesses. Using Benediction , Fortitude in Fellowship and Infectious Zeal will help our teammates survivability (even if only so slightly), both buffing their toughness and crit chances.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

As for us..... You better get those hands swinging.
If you feel more comfortable with standing away form the danger, you can try and go with The Voice of Terra to improve your health situation when using the Flamer, however I rather put more points into Melee based survivability as those situations are easier to react to with an Axe than Flamer.
We have Blood Redemption for free Toughness replenishment (but we have to spend a point in Backstabber in order to get it), Vicious Offering and Enemies Within, Enemies Without should be good enough to top you off in any kind of horde situation.
Lastly we have Until Death with Holy Revenant are there in case you dont get your timing with the Flamer right. It does happen. Ive been there.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Lastly there are some points that could be better spent like Bleed for the Emperor for Toughness Boost or even one more to get Second Wind or Enduring Faith but honestly I do think what you have there should be enough to cover the basics.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Also remember that you have two Charges of Fury of the Faithful so you can zoom out of situations and zoom in to engage whenever you need.

Tldr; When you need Toughness, start swinging!

  3. What tool is for what occasion?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

First things first, Antax Mk V Combat Axe aka Your Best Friend! This weapon will be your bread and butter through the most of the way, similarly to how most of zealots will play this game! HOWEVER unlike them, we are optimizing for random crits, not consistency~
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

‎‎This is why we have Limbsplitter to simulate that lovely crit-sound whenever you get jumped by something you can react to. And to keep the axe up to Heresy standards, we also have melee focused traits such as: Disdain , Punishment , Faithful Frenzy and Sustained Assault .
These should help you with getting just enough value from the axe if you want to just kill + because Antax Mk V Combat Axe has cleave damage instead of finesse, it is able to hit more enemies whenever you get out of position, maybe just enough to save your life.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

I'd recommend on focusing on charged attacks whenever trying to get rid of bigger enemies to get the most damage done on Unyelding enemies such as Bulwarks Reapers and especially Crushers! They usually take 3-4 hits to take down if you are lucky. And we will be lucky because fireaxe will always crit!      ....right?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Second tool of war, your Primary in TF2 and secondary in Darktide: The Artemia MK III Purgation Flamer! Oh my emperor, this weapon is so big and heavy. Reloading and firing is so slow that you really have to think on everything that is about to happen in 15 seconds from now, otherwise you will be caught with your pants off.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

‎For this occasion, we are mostly using it to support our team by blasting a blinding ray of fire straight into their immediate field of vision and hopefully burning everything in its wake!
To do so, I tend to use the secondary fire the most in tight corridors and spaces. To help with positioning and damage we have both Fury of the Faithful with Redoubled Zeal & Blazing Piety with Penetrating Flame for brittle-crit flames.
Also Anoint in Blood & Purge the Unclean are there to help with Ranged damage against hordes.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Leave your Primary fire to push enemies away (like an Airblast) and to stagger them. We could alternatively switch Quickflame for Fan the Flames in order to enhance the Airblast part of our Pyro Build, and if you feel like you prefer to make sure enemies get blasted away 100% of the time, you totally should invest in that instead. I prefer Quickflame simply because I love eating through ammunition like a hog <3
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Oh and do not forget about your awesome shove with your special attack! Very useful if you feel like loosing stamina.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

So lastly... lets discuss the oddball. Stunstorm Grenade is not quite something one would imagine from the blazing pyromaniac. And you would be correct in that, even as far as saying that original Pyro TF2 that had grenades, used Immolation Grenades. So why Stunstorm Grenade instead? Well, in this day and age of TF2, noone really considers The Shotgun as a viable gun for pyro (despite it being one of the better shotguns in that game to have as a secondary) and because of that many switch to alternative fire weaponry such as Flare Gun, Detonator, Manmelter and... wait... what am I missing?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

    The Scorchshot.
The most unbalanced Pyro weapon in the history of TF2. Yes. Our Stunstorm Grenade is The Scorchshot. And will allow us to actually make use of the secondary fire for Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer. You throw this Grenade in the general direction of the threat, and for about 8-9 seconds you get that entire area stunned.... just like The Scorchshot. mh-hm. Oh those poor chokepoints....
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Anyway, this granade is way more practical for picking up people from the ground than the other options on the list and I hope you didn't forget that we are playing with the team here! They need your help! And you are here to provide it with burning passion. Or passion that is burning.. Hmm..

  4. How did Hadron allow this?
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

    They didnt.
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
     ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
      ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

    Anymore questions?

    Comment from Pyro TF2:
"Mhhhhmmm! Muuhmmph mphhp phhmmmm! Muuurphhh hummm phuum. Hummm muuh mhuumpm mum!"

I was considering making this entire guide through pyro voicelines but that would be too much of an shitpost. But maybe ill make a second one that refers to this one. I think that would be pretty funny.
I will update this build whenever something more suitable comes up during playtesting it on highier difficulties than Damnation. I dont really sweat that much to play Auric levels of Madness just yet.
Anyway have fun! And remember to blast The Lovin' Spoonful - Do You Believe in Magic during your sessions!
