Description:

  • Frontliner melee build for Psyker, Primary way of regenerating toughness is by applying soulblaze to enemies. They only need to die with the soulblaze on them, not directly from it. Quell peril by switching to your blitz.

Dealing Damage:

  • Primary method of dealing damage is through sending out the wave and then holding the pistol out as the wave hits enemies, since the wave is an object type attack much like assail and zealot knives, it can inherit blessings/modifiers from other weapons that deal object damage such as bolt pistol. This means that the wave will place four stacks of bleed on every enemy it hits regardless of where they are
  • Both Venting Shriek and the wave go through the map's walls, this however does mean you will set off every barrel and may attract daemonhosts
  • DO NOT reserve Venting Shriek for "big packs", you reserve it for peril quelling / pox spam / hound spam / etc, generally try to use venting shriek as often as possible

FGS Rotation:

  • Cleave does not matter on force greatswords, your draw swings have more than enough cleave and the melee component of your special attack has infinite cleave.
  • You can also stagger for free endlessly if need be with the rmb + quick lmb on the FGS. This can be mixed into a cycle such as:
    Switch to FGS - > RMB - > LMB - > Switch to something else - > FGS - > LMB draw swing that you can accelerate by moving your camera - > Repeat
  • Combos on FGS are worthless as draw swings will do more damage with less clunk once you get the muscle memory for them and unlike normal "combos" you can dodge slide quite well when you switch to pistol as part of the draw swing rotation.

Why block efficiency with deflector:

  • Deflector when paired with high block efficiency becomes very broken, you practically become invincible to any ranged attacks and can function as a small shield for covering revives/grabs or push into a reaper/gunner pack to punish them

Why Empyric Resolve with high warp resistance:

  • It might not seem like much just messing around in the shooting range however the one extra wave being sent out cuts down on a lot of time in most actual runs of the game, it means you will spend less time switching to blitz to quell and it does pair extremely well with venting shriek and blocking in general

Why Kinetic Flayer:

  • While many might not have noticed, the target prioritization for Kinetic Flayer has had quite a lot of changes, this means that it will always prioritize specials/elites that might be most problematic, you are essentially getting off a free kill every few seconds for basically nothing which will spread soulblaze in a radius, due to also having Wildfire this becomes a chain effect of spreading more and more soulblaze essentially giving you a very reliable method of regenerating toughness

Why Murderous Tranquility:

  • Ultimately the second blessing can be whatever you would prefer, Murderous Tranquility/Blazing Spirit are pretty good methods of toughness regen during a horde/special pack. Precognition is also a good option
  • Warp Slice / Wrath are useless on FGS as the critical for the wave would only happen every 15 seconds and the extra damage would've been covered in that timespan by other waves spammed out regardless. Wrath is not needed nor is any other cleave boosting buff needed as draw swings have plenty of cleave and special melee has infinite cleave.
  • Momentum is not that worth it as Murderous Tranquility would already cover the toughness regen via quietude
  • Doing a rotation of draw swing and rmb stagger would basically let you afk when swarmed with Murderous Tranquility as any damage blocked would become peril

Why Is the bolt pistol built for mobility:

  • One of the biggest drawbacks of the FGS is it's lack of mobility, bolt pistol covers the lack of mobility of the FGS
  • Bolt pistol is essential for applying stacks of bleed, without it this build would be doing half or more less damage than it currently does
  • Run and gun is up to personal preference, I prefer being able to just look in a direction and one tap specials/snipers without needing to RMB
