Gun Psyker Build Guide: Feel Like a God Among Mortals
 Psyker Build - Warhammer 40k: Darktide 

Introduction

Do you want to melt entire hordes, elite enemies included, in a hail of las bolts? Do you want to constantly regenerate toughness and shrug off damage like it’s nothing? If that sounds like your style, Gun Psyker is your path to glory.

Gun Psyker Overview

1. High DPS – Pop Scrier's Gaze and stack up Disrupt Destiny to crank out some insane damage while having high crit chance.
2. Tanky – Keep your toughness ticking up nonstop with Mettle and other talents, plus enjoy solid damage reduction to soak up hits.
3. Mobile – Zoom around with Mettle, Disrupt Destiny , and (if you want) Warp Speed for extra zip.
4. Versatile – Wipe out hordes, bosses, and elites without breaking a sweat.
5. Fun – This build is a total blast! You’ll feel like a wrecking ball, smashing stuff with insane power, all while zipping around and staying tough.

Melee Weapons

Use whatever you like, really—Combat Knife, Blaze Force Sword, or Great Sword—but here are my favorites:

Best in Slot: MkIV Dueling Sword

• Take Thrust and Uncanny Strike 
• Deletes Crushers (a major threat), decent horde clear, insane mobility.
• Easily the strongest melee in the game, but yeah… kind of overused.
• Perks: Go for Carapace Damage and Unyielding.

Fun Pick: MkVIII Great Sword

• You look badass with it.
• Sends out cool warp waves!
• Incredible horde clear, decent single target.
• Not mobile, but you’ll feel like a heavy metal protagonist.
• I like Precognition and Riposte —buffs are easy to trigger.
  • Shred and Wrath are also quite good if that's more your speed
• Perks: Carapace/Flak Damage, and Unyielding.

Ranged Weapons

Primary Pick: MKXII Recon Lasgun

• Use Infernus rounds.
• High crit means you'll stack burn fast and wipe everything except Crushers.
• Efficient, accurate, and fun to hose enemies down.
• Avoid Crushers—carapace armor laughs at your gun.
• Perks: Take Flak Damage, Maniac Damage, or +5% Crit Chance (though not needed thanks to Scrier's Gaze).

Alternative: Vraks MkV Autogun or Columnus

• Strong close-range burst via finesse bonus.
• Less range and less ammo-efficient = ammo hog (your teammates will notice).
• Still fun and viable.
• Blessings: Fire Frenzy and Dumdum .

Curios

• 2x Toughness, 1x Stamina.
• Perks: Go with Combat Regen, and whatever else you like.
• I prefer Extra Toughness and Stamina Efficiency.
• Don’t bother with Gunner Damage Reduction— Empathic Evasion handles that.

Talents Overview

Section 1: Early Talent Tree

• Quietude , Mettle , and Warp Expenditure are must-haves for toughness regen and tankiness.
  • Mettle especially turns you into a bullet sponge thanks to your high crit rate.
• Pick between:
  • Perilous Combustion (kill elites in hordes for big AoE value), or
  • Battle Meditation (helps with peril/toughness regen, can give you access to another toughness node).

Blitz:

• Brain Rupture – ammo saver and elite killer (synergizes with Cruel Fortune).
• Smite – Emperor Palpatine moment, great for spacing or CC.
  • Don’t spam Smite —it’s utility, not DPS.
• Avoid Assail —fun but doesn't fit this build.

Section 2: Mid Tree – The Core

• Psykinetic's Aura – absolutely cracked, gets you back into Scrier's Gaze fast.
• Aura: Choose between:
  • Seer's Presence (faster cooldown) or
  • Prescience (more crits—not necessary, but nice).

For melee synergy:

• Lightning Speed
• By Crack of Bone 
• Warp Splitting 
• You can drop By Crack of Bone or Warp Splitting if you want an additional talent point

Survivability Musts:

• One with the Warp – Toughness DR scales with Peril.
• Empathic Evasion – Dodge bullets mid-fight while critting? Yes, please.
  • Will make you immune to gunners

Section 3: Ability Tree

• Scrier's Gaze is your god mode button—damage, toughness, speed (optional).
• Endurance – for reduced toughness damage taken.
• Precognition – faster ramp-up and extra finesse damage.
• Warp Speed (Optional) –  but it’s fun zooming around the map.

DO NOT take Warp Unbound – completely useless unless you're spamming warp abilities (which you're not). You won’t explode at 100% peril if all you do is shoot/stab.

Section 4: Final Talents

• Warp Rider – 20% damage as peril goes up = big boom.
• Tranquility Through Slaughter – turbocharges peril quelling.
• Kinetic Deflection (Optional) – allows you to block hits from Crushers, but is a preference pick.
• Surety of Arms – nice reload QoL, mainly a filler on the path to keystone.
  • Avoid True Aim — The crit boost this provides is negligible for us.

Keystone: Disrupt Destiny 

• Boosts Scrier's Gaze damage and gives bonus damage when it’s on cooldown.
• Highlights enemies—kill them to gain stacks. regen toughness, and go vroom.
• Talent choice:
  • Lingering Influence – longer stack duration = easier upkeep. Perfect for my laziness.
  • Perfectionism – More damage, shorter stack duration. if you’re cracked at headshots, go wild.
    • Pair with Cruel Fortune for extra stack gain on weakspot kills.

Want Perfectionism over Lingering Influence? Make sure to add Cruel Fortune. Drop something like Warp Speed to free up a point.

If you want a little more toughness to increase survivability in tough missions, drop one of the other optional talent points and grab the toughness node under Warp Rider.

Final Thoughts:

Gun Psyker go pew pew. Gun Psyker go stab stab. Gun Psyker hoard ammo.
But Gun Psyker also carries the team with raw power, toughness regen, and sheer style. You’re tanky, deadly, and fast. Just be mindful of Crushers, Hounds, and Trappers—they're your main threats.
