Horizontal combo (l1 -> h2 -> repeat) to clear hordes.

Use blitz like situational crowd control stun which electrifies foes so you can deal more damage to them.
Use shotgun special fire ammunition to break open bulwarks from a distance and take out ranged threats.

Try to stay in Scrier's as often as possible, it will boost and regen toughness.
