With this build, you have to be on your toes!  Run, slide, dodge, and CALL THE WARP for damage!  

 

Basic build, can be modified/adapted to your playstyle.  However, for this build, the key nodes are Mettle and Empathic Evasion.  These work great in tandem: on crit shot, you get toughness recovery, speed boost, and 1s dodge against ranged attacks (hence making the build a frontliner).* The third important node is Kinetic Deflection (works well in hairy situations and protects against bosses, when cornered, etc.)**  There are ways to improve Boss damage with this build at the expense of overall DPS and or survivability.  For example, you can swap Kinetic Deflection with Kinetic Resonance, so that you can throw 2-3 quick brain bursts on the boss.  

 

Melee can also be swapped to your liking.  The only reason I use Dueling Sword is for its special attack, which can quickly stagger any elite.  Similarly, perks/blessings can be swapped to your liking.  Though I highly advise Uncanny Strike.  

 

As for the Inferno Staff, I like to use Elite Damage and Flak Armored (to clear out the majority of enemies and, especially, gunners).  However, these can be swapped to an extra  5% crit chance and either Unyielding (reapers/bosses/bulwarks) or maniacs.  I wouldn't change the blessings:  Blaze Away and Warp Nexus are quite important.    There are other options for the blessings, but they require some remaking of the talent node tree.  ,

 

Curios can be modified, too: one toughness/health can be swapped to Revive Ally, etc.
