This is my all-around build for The Flamestaff. It is dependent on using assail to compensate for the low range of the staff. You should be aiming your assault shards often, as it is more ammo-efficient and causes them to do more damage. You'll be surprised by how effective they are once you get High Disrupt Destiny and Scrier's Gaze stacks. By using Blaze Away, Penetrating Flames, and a +25% damage bonus that you're getting from the perk selection, you can reasonably boss-kill with the staff. Speaking of which, to use Blaze Away properly, you shouldn't fill the charge meter on the staff all the way before firing. Simply press the fire button at the beginning of the charge continuously. This stops Blaze Away stacks from decaying between attacks, which allows you to maintain max stacks during a fight. To prove this, you can look at the Blaze Away stack skill icon on your screen and see how you're maintaining 5 stacks. Keep in mind, this equals out to a bonus 40% strength.
