Steel Legion Squad Leader
 Veteran Build - Warhammer 40k: Darktide 

the steel legion squad leader takes the role of a well rounded, tanky veteran who thrives in the close-to-mid range. this build offers respectable damage with both your melee and ranged, high toughness and DR, and the ability to shred single targets. it does, however, perform poorly against hordes, and you might find yourself vulnerable if you have no nades and voice of command is on cd. stay close to your team, leverage your voice of command offensively and defensively, use good positioning to stay out of large groupings of enemies, and focus priority targets. this is how you will see success with this build. 

prioritize big enemies with lots of health. the chainswords special heavy will one shot just about anything but monstrosities when its beefed up by voice of command, and still hits very very hard even when it isnt. use it often against maulers, mutants, individual ragers, and ogryn. 

the laspistol does good damage, shreds specials/elites, and can fare decently against groups. should be used against anything out of melee range that isnt a crusher or mauler. using it to pick off specials will help you and your team tremendously. its also going to be your best tool against larger groups of ragers and gunners. 

your grenades are your best tool against hordes. throwing them at big groups and near enemy spawnpoints will keep you from getting overwhelmed. always keep one in reserve to drop at your feet in case you find yourself getting swarmed, or when you get pinned down by gunner packs.

voice of command has been buffed as much as possible through our talents. it has a short cd, offers a respectable boost in damage, and makes us VERY tanky. duty and honour + iron will is an extremely potent talent combo. pop voice in melee and shred through whatevers causing you and your team issues. use it as much as possible, it's really not worth sitting on it for long periods of time.

some alternate build options:

-with the new update, theres less flexibility for alternate options. bloodletter is now far more impactful with increased crusher tankiness (and rampage is hard to proc anyways), and most of the nodes are locked in. the new mk vi bolt pistol might make for a fun option, though (and can help with hordes). lethal proximity + execution = wiping hordes when you hit voice. drop shock trooper and take rending strikes + bring yhem down
