Description
This was heavily inspired by Mr. E's old MVP vet build, so a lot of credit for the build goes to him!
With the veteran rework, I think I've found a VERY capable build that brings out some of the new vet tree's best reworked perks while still holding true to the initial identity for the build: an allrounder that can clutch in key situations and ensure the team ends with a dub.
The first thing that makes this build shine is ammo economy, with constant ammo regen thanks to Survivalist, Fully Loaded and Shock Trooper. As long as you aren't overusing the lasgun, you shouldn't be hurting too bad for ammo.
The key tenets of this build emphasize what the recon lasgun does best: blistering damage through a high crit rate. With the trinity of Exhilarating Takedown, Confirmed Kill, and Longshot, these three ranged abilities give the vet some much-needed survivability when dishing out ranged kills with impunity thanks to the MK. XII's blistering fire rate.
I kept the selection very minimal in the top half of the tree to allow us to pick up all the old favorites that made the recon lasgun shine, perks like Shock Trooper and Onslaught. Paired with Dumdum and Infernus, the lasgun can melt even the toughest crusher or mauler with relative ease, especially when paired with the brutal damage upgrades from Precision Strikes and, when applicable, Bring it Down!
When a melee horde comes, pull out the knife and get cutting. Throw a Shredder Frag Grenade to start of a round of bleeds, then spam dodge in to proc Reciprocity, which will in turn feed Flesh Tearer. With bleeds building up, you do enough DOT damage to melt through even the biggest hordes.
Fire off Voice of Command as often as possible to keep up your Duty and Honour and Close Quarters Killzone. Pair that with Desperado, and the knife will melt away all your problems through its constant crit procs.
A big part of any MVP is to build up those around them, which is why I really like Field Improvisation and Leave No One Behind. With your high mobility and shout, you can get a quick res off on a swarmed teammate, or patch them up with a med kit between fights.
I initially tried this build with Deadshot instead of Precision Strikes, and while the insane crit chance was nice, always being out of stamina wasn't. I suppose you could supplement with curio blessings, but precision strikes is easier and gives just as much overall damage.
May this build help you bring justice to Atoma. The Emperor Protects, The Guard Prevails!
