TL;DR if you kill a single Elite near a teammate with a ranged weapon headshot you give them 27% toughness in that instant 29% if you were already on a elite killing spree. No headshot? No problem! 25%/27% total.

 

Marksman focus isn't complete trash anymore and the Toughness multiplier and Stamina regen are central to the 'support.' side of the build.

Goal = Maintain as close to 100% uptime on *Stance* as possible. Remember you no longer need ranged kills to maintain *stance*, just marked kills.

Why uptime?

Base passive toughness gen in *Stance* = 15% per second
With 10 Marksman focus multiplier = 21%

This is a good time to note: 10 Marksman Focus stacks = 4 weakspot kills (Doesn't have to be ranged either) / TpS = Toughness per Sec

Only other Toughness over time effect you will have applied is Confirmed Kill = 2% TpS per Elite/Special kill base 2.8% with multiplier = 23.8 total

But that's only with 1 Kill. 

Confirmed kill stacks infinitely. If you kill 5 Elites/Specials thats 10% TpS base 14% with multiplier = 35% TpS total.

This is not including pop effects like the 10%/14% flat on immediate proc of Confirmed kill or the 15%/21% flat of Exhil Takedown.

This is the new age 'support' build on vet because as long as you maintain *Stance* you give your teammates 7% TpS + 15% each time you kill an enemy near them + 2%/2.8% per confirmed kill + 3%/4.2% per Exhil Takedown.

 

If this is a support build then "Why all the damage nodes?"
 

KS. If you don't get the kill then all those pretty numbers mean nothing.

 

With the new *Stance*, Shout is no longer the best toughness generation setup. Yes it still has slightly more utility with the stagger/knockdown but with the raw stopping power of this talent setup you should not be surrounded. Optimal melee is obv new duelling sword (I wish it was actually nerfed) but the maul above is a very good alternative, shout out Mister E. 

If you want to run a melee that doesn't do well into Carapace like the Maul and DS then remove Shock Trooper for whatever comfort node you want and run the Zarona revolver with the Hand Canon/Surgical blessings, anything but Crusher (which takes two shots) is a oneshot headshot on crit (just wait 1.5 seconds with surgical for 100% crit) with max marksman stacks.

Also important to note, you can maintain stacks of Marksman's Focus by hitting people in the head with your melee weapon.
