Why Play this Build?
I personally believe this is the best psyker build by far for auric level, alongside melee gun psyker. This build has great sniping potential due to its near permanent damage uptime, allowing you to resolve specialists and gunners far better than any other build in the game. You are no slouch at carapace damage either thanks to the FGS.
Flame staff and voidblast provide good utility and horde clear but they simply lack the single target dps to be useful in auric. By the time the flamer sets up against a 5xgunner pack you are already done killing all of them. Elite hordes are nowhere dense enough for other staves to be worth taking unless the "mostly melee enemies" modifier is involved.
The build also counters the "waves of mutants" modifier. Impossible to get grabbed since you can 2-4 shot mutants and kill an infinite number of them at range while they run towards you.
How to Play this Build?
Mandatory: Download Skitarius mod -> bind lmb for the electro staff to auto fire to prevent carpal tunnel
- Run around the map like an idiot and left click everything to death
- Use force sword against bosses and crushers. You can shoot scab maulers and ragers in their flak spots.
- Ideal targets: gunners, shooters, reapers (careful about their armor, if you cant hit the flesh then shoot someone else), specialists
I hate autoclickers and I think you're a stinky doodoo exploiting game mechanics.
You're free to disagree. But in reality, a large portion of weapons should be played with autoclickers to protect yourself from injury. If I play martydrom + tacaxe, then I can't even click fast enough to keep up with the attack speed. Same goes for dueling sword with any attack speed buff, or light spam weapons in general. If you think these weapons are fine, but feel the electro staff with autoclicker goes against your principles, then you are a hypocrite.
Debatable Nodes you can remove:
- Immaterial Focus (10% damage resistance)
- Warp Expenditure (toughness on melee)
- Vulnerable Minds (20% dmg to ogryns / monstrosities)
- Ranged Damage Boost +10%
Good Nodes you could take:
- Kinetic Deflection (could be useful for clutching)
- Warp Speed (allows higher aggression and kiting when shooting)
- Lightning Speed / Warp Splitting (both are nice for hordes)
- Assail (for the "hunting grounds" modifier)
Bad / Bait Nodes:
- Penetration of the Soul (The electro staff is useless against armor even if you have this)
- Warp Ghost (the replenishment and stamina don't matter, and we have no passive quelling so why bother with reduced quelling)
- By Crack of Bone (unnecessary quelling)
- Battle Meditation (unnecessary quelling)
- Quietude (not enough damage, unnecessary quelling)
- Just a Dream (our peril is too high)
- Crystalline Will (Why?)
- Perilous Combustion (our soulblaze is not good enough to spec into for 5% CR and 15% toughness. For reference our crtir ate is ~70% in battle, adding more is pointless).
Why Not Venting Shriek?
The horde clear is nice but not required for auric level, due to how much single target dps you're giving up. Vent kind of forces you to take DS4 since you don't have the finesse dmg to make greatsword / force sword good against crushers.
