This is the optimized setup for Martyrdom. I’ve included Bleed for the Emperor and Restoring Faith as mandatory picks because, unlike other classes, we cannot afford to take any chip damage.
The game's bleed-through mechanic means that even with Toughness, stray hits will touch your health bar. Since we live at 1 HP, those stray hits are lethal without these talents. It is ridiculous that we have to invest this heavily just to exist in melee range while Arbitrators and Psykers get similar survivability with a single talent point. Fatshark, please fix.
The Weapon Strategy
Primary Weapon: Tactical Axe (Mk II or Mk VII recommended)
Blessing 1: Brutal Momentum
- Function: Allows you to ignore hit mass on headshots. Transforms the axe from a single-target weapon into a horde-clearing lawnmower.
Blessing 2: Shred
- Function: Stacks Crit Chance. Essential for triggering Invocation of Death to spam your Ability cooldown.
Secondary Weapon: Bolt Pistol
Blessing 1: Puncture
- Function: Puncture: +25% Power & applies massive Bleed on hit.
Blessing 2: Lethal Proximity
- Function: Bolts explode in a larger radius and stagger enemies.
The Talent Tree
Keystone: Martyrdom
- The Buff: Cap is now 5 Stacks (Missing 5 Wounds = Max Power). This is why we have 1 toughness curio.
- The Strat: Run enough wounds (via Curios) so you can miss 5 and still have 1 or 2 left for safety.
Key Defensive Combo (The "Immortal" Loop):
- Bleed for the Emperor : -40% Damage Reduction on health hits.
- Restoring Faith : Heals 20% of damage taken.
Aura: Benediction
- Function: +15% Toughness Damage Reduction. Stacks with Martyrdom TDR benefiting your overall survivability.
Crucial Passive: Invocation of Death
- Function: Critical hits reduce Ability Cooldown. (Required to make the Shred blessing worth it).
How It Plays (The Loop)
Enter Combat: Let your health drop (or start low) until you are missing 5 Wounds. You now have +50% Damage, +30% Attack Speed, and +37.5% Toughness Damage Reduction.
Horde Clear: Swing at head-height. Brutal Momentum lets you cleave through infinite enemies as long as you hit heads.
Cooldown Spam: Because of Shred you are critting constantly. This refreshes your Ability (Charge/Relic) every few seconds. Spam it to keep your Toughness full.
Tanking: If your Toughness breaks, Bleed for the Emperor reduces the hit, and Restoring Faith heals a chunk of it back. You survive hits that would kill other builds.
