You can use MK IIIa lasgun if you not playing agains waves of armored ogryn enemies and change ability modifier to Counter fire insted of The Bigger they Are
Don't forget to use Devil's claw special parry button, saves lives more than you think. I use bayonet on armored guys, sword for hordes or sudden stuff behing the back.
Use your grenades for "OhShit" situations or save your teammates/change positions while being under fire.
