Havoc 40 — Melee-Focused Frontline All-Rounder

This is an aggressive, melee-focused Havoc 40 build centered around Fury of the Faithful, Blazing Piety, Scourge and Fire and Fury.

The build is designed around mobility, critical hits, and damage-over-time effects. You want to stay aggressive, constantly move through the fight, and use your mobility to get onto priority targets while applying Bleed and Fire to everything around you.

Core Playstyle

The Tactical Axe is your primary weapon, and the build is heavily focused on light attacks, dodging, and staying mobile.

Scourge is what gives the build its Bleed component, causing critical hits to apply Bleed. Combined with Fire and Fury, your melee attacks can stack both Bleed and Fire DoTs onto enemies.

This means you don’t have to stand around and finish every enemy individually. Apply your effects, keep moving, and let the damage continue ticking while you shift to your next target.

Fury of the Faithful is your primary gap closer. Use it aggressively to get onto gunners and other ranged threats rather than trying to fight them from a distance.

The general flow is:

Close the gap → light-attack spam → apply Bleed + Fire → dodge through the group → move to the next target.

Priority Targets

Gunners and other dangerous ranged enemies should be a priority.

Rather than sitting back, use Fury of the Faithful to get into melee range quickly. The build is at its best when you’re dictating where the fight happens instead of allowing ranged enemies to chip away at you.

Horde Control

Flame Grenades are your main answer when the horde starts becoming overwhelming.

They can be used to soften up a group before you engage, control a choke point, or give yourself some breathing room when there are too many enemies to safely handle with the TacAxe.

The Flamer is optional. It gives you even more horde control, but you can replace it with a weapon that provides more range if you’d rather have other options against distant specialists and gunners.

A Bolt Pistol is a good alternative if you want to be able to pick off enemies from range. Knives can also provide some additional ranged utility.

If you decide to drop Flame Grenades for Knives, I would definitely keep the Flamer. You still need a reliable way to deal with and control large hordes, and the Flamer fills that role.

Clutch Revives

One of the strengths of this build that isn’t immediately obvious is how well it can handle clutch or risky revives.

With Providence and the additional revive speed from the curios, you can get teammates back up significantly faster.

On top of that, Zealous Pilgrimage giving you the unkillable status can make a huge difference when going for a dangerous revive. It gives you a window where you can get into situations that would normally be too risky, get the revive off, and then use your mobility to get back out alive.

Combined with Fury of the Faithful, you have a very good combination for reaching downed teammates quickly and getting out of trouble afterward.

So don’t automatically write off a revive just because the situation looks rough. If you have the ability available and the timing is right, this build is particularly well suited for making those “probably shouldn’t be doing this” revive plays and actually getting everyone out alive.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean blindly diving into a guaranteed death. It’s about recognizing those situations where another build might have to leave the teammate behind, while you have enough mobility, revive speed, and survivability to make the play.

Overall

This is an aggressive frontline all-rounder rather than a build that specializes in one type of enemy or role.

You have:

  • Tactical Axe for fast melee combat.
  • Scourge for Bleed.
  • Fire and Fury for additional Fire DoT.
  • Fury of the Faithful for closing gaps and reaching priority targets.
  • Blazing Piety to support the aggressive critical-hit-focused playstyle.
  • Flame Grenades for horde control and creating space.
  • Providence + revive speed on curios for clutch saves and aggressive revives.

The key is to keep moving and keep applying pressure. Rush ranged threats, spread your DoTs through the horde, use your grenades when things get crowded, and take advantage of your mobility and survivability when a teammate needs a risky revive.
