Shovel because I like the attack pattern. Other viable options are anything that has good armor pen and decent horde clear.

Gorgonum because you can tap fire it to hit long range specialists if no one else is able.

Combat ability regen is personal preference on curios and is the only requirement, the rest are flex picks which I've picked out some good choices. Regular priority would probably be revive speed > combat ability regen > everything else. No toughness regen because you don't need it. Just take a nice medium charge heavy swing and you'll get all of it back in a horde, maybe about 40% if not in a horde.

Alternative weapon setups

  • Shield
    • Block Efficiency + flex trait (preferred is Sprint Efficiency)
    • Confident Strike + flex blessing (preferred is Skullcrusher)
  • Rumbler
    • Flak + Maniacs
    • Shattering Impact + flex blessing (preferred is Adhesive Charge)
  • Ripper Gun
    • Maniacs +
    • Terrifying Barrage + flex blessing

Perks

  •   5 - Best Form of Defence
    • easy way to get toughness back
    • takes away need for toughness regen on curio
  • 10 - Blood and Thunder
    • the bleed is helpful against all enemies, not just ogryns like in Heavyweight
      • Heavyweight feels like wasted efficiency
    • the grenades released from Bombs Away! don't really do that much damage
      • might be good in a horde, but a horde is the exact opposite of something you need help with
  • 15 - Bullfighter - I like charges, if you couldn't tell from my curios ;-)
  • 20 - Hard as Nails - this was kind of just picking the best out of the worst
  • 25 - Knock em' down, beat em' up
    • very useful in combination with Thrust on the shovel
    • +50% damage on your next heavy attack with stacks that last 10 seconds? to me, there is no other choice
      • L1, L2, L3, you're at 25 stacks, block cancel, H1
      • or L1, L2, you're at 25 stacks, H1
  • 30 - Unstoppable
    • very useful for ogryn patrols
    • and remember, you can cut your Bull Rush short
