Description
The Crucis Mk II Thunder Hammer with Thrust IV allows you to delete any specials, elites, and bosses that approach the team. Killing muties, hounds, and bosses is your job. The second blessing is flexible, but should be something that helps with horde clear. Because the Crucis is slow at horde clear you will need to rely on Immolation grenades and your team to keep things under control. Packs of ragers, crushers, and maulers are also a problem and should be thinned out with your revolver and further managed with grenades and Shroudfield. Only use the weapon special (charged attack) when you have a clear shot at your priority target because the animation lock will leave you vulnerable to groups of enemies.
Any threats that remain at range can be deleted by the revolver or approached via Shroudfield and engaged in melee. Trappers, bombers, flamers, and snipers should be shot with extreme prejudice. The combination of Surgical and Hand-Cannon is very strong. The perks can be optimized to your preference. It is very helpful to have a survivalist vet on your team and in such a case you should never run out of ammo.
The passive Thy Wrath Be Swift is mandatory for effective Crucis Thunder Hammer use. The second chance provided by Until Death is invaluable in an emergency clutch situation, but you normally shouldn't need to use it. Backstabber, Duelist, The Emperor's Bullet, and Shield of Contempt are all strong passives but those 7 points could be spent elsewhere to support your personal play style. For example, taking Disdain, Enemies Within, Bleed for the Emperor, and Vicious Offering would allow better toughness maintenance in hordes.
Your main sources of toughness regen are Shroudfield, the keystone modifier Retributor's Stance, and Loner Aura; because of this, proper dodging, blocking, target prioritization, kiting, and positioning are all important.
Curios are largely a matter of personal preference. Increased toughness regen and combat ability regen might improve this build, as might swapping out the wound for toughness or health. Personally, I find running only 2 wounds to be risky.
Enjoy!
May the Emperor watch over you.
