Nade's Big Bonk Build

OVERVIEW

===================================================================================

Have you ever wanted a build so downright nasty it would permanently change the way you think about Darktide? A build so sweaty, so combo intensive that it would make a knife zealot cry? Well... this isn't that build, but it is a fun one! A monstrosity killing, Elite vaporizing, horde atomizing Thunder Hammer build that I'm very proud to show y'all. Let me clarify, it is an incredibly potent build. When you get it down you shouldn't have any trouble clearing the hardest of Auric Maelstorms, but its nowhere close to the potency of knife zealot. If you want a change of pace or maybe just a laid back but still incredibly enjoyable build, this is the one. I personally use it and find success with it daily, all I ask is that you give it a shot. Without further adou, the build.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

===================================================================================

Let's start with gear. "The Big Bonker," "The Big Lebowski," the Cruicis Thunder Hammer Mk II is the backbone of the build. I'll admit, it takes a while to get used to, but once you do you're borderline unstoppable. For blessings, either Headtaker or Slaughterer with Thrust will be our best combination. For perks, Unyielding is required and whatever type of enemy you have trouble with should be slotted into the other perk. For me, that's Flak. Next up, the Purgation Flamer. Its our go-to horde clear solution if and when we have time to pull it out. Overpressure and Blaze Away are the best two blessings, and flak and maniac will do fine for perks. The Flamer is really good, but a shotgun or braced auto gun can work aswell. On to Curios, our options are pretty limited. A minimum of two wound curios is required to take proper advantage of martyrdom, and a toughness curio will help keep our toughness high to actually use the Martyrdom toughness DR. Cool down reduction will help us get our dash back faster, stamina Regen speed will keep us alive, and a either flat toughness or stamina efficiency is a good third option.

Talent Tree Breakdown / Leveling Guide

===================================================================================

To get started, Backstabber is one of the best one-talent-point increases to damage we can get, especially for bonkin' bosses. From there, I take blood redemption. After that anoint in blood will help our flamer damage, and Purge The Unclean helps our boss damage. It's sort of a dash to the immolation grenades from there, so take whatever you want till there. The immolation grenade is the best blitz for this build due to the thunder hammer's mediocre horde clear but great crowd controll. While we throw kids around the room, we might as well burn em. Thy Wrath Be Swift is next on our list that way we can keep swinging away while in the heat of combat. We then go back to the left-hand column to grab Duelist for increased damage on dodge, and to grab the Until Death and Holy Reverent combo. With those two skill points alone, we get a saftey net that comes back every two minutes. While we don't intend on dying, there are some factors we cant control. We then take Fury of the Faithful for toughness on demand and a distance closing tool, as well as its modifier for an extra charge. Next up for our Aura, Benediction is literally free team-wide DR so we'll nab that, and from there we go down to the Maryrdom tree, taking Fury Of The Faithful for extra attack speed. Faith's Fortitude is required for extra Martyrdom stacks, and Martyrdom as well as its modifiers give us ludicrous modifiers for loosing wounds. For our final two points, sustained assault will do fine for our horde clear potential.

HOW TO PLAY

===================================================================================

The core of our build is a versitile specialist that can deal with anything thrown at it, be it in the front, mid, or backline. Our Thunder Hammer is our primary, so use it as such. The lights suck on it so just spam the side-to-side heavies, only charged-lighting scab specialists when Headtaker is rolling. Speaking of charge, aim for the head. You have a pretty decent amount of time to line up a shot with the charged heavies, and hitting weak spots will drastically improve our damage. For smaller mixed hordes, stick with heavies, throwing an immolation grenade if needed but larger hordes may require falling back with your flamer, Whatever the case, this build plays pretty slow compared to crackhead knife zealot or chains word XIIg builds, so its gonna take some time to get used to this one. The Thunder Hammer is a clunky, unwieldy thing at first, but taking the time to learn it is integral to the build.

Pros:

  • High Skill-Ceiling
  • Generalist all-rounder kit
  • Unmatched Versatility

Cons:

  • High barrier-to-entry. Decent rolls required. Skill necessary
  • Slow Playstyle
