THIS BUILD IS FLEXIBLE, I USE FOR ALL CONTENT EXCEPT 20+ HAVOCS

+++ UPDATED FOR NIGHTMARES & VISIONS +++

You can't go wrong using this for any of the content to start. Experienced players using specific builds for hardest content are not the same. This build is a baseline. It will not let you faceroll all content. This is a simple build to play smart by utilizing light and heavy attacks and whatever ranged for specials. Trappers and multiple Dogs are the most lethal specials that can shut you down for good. 

 

STARTING CORE TALENTS 

  • Three core talents that help survivability and lets you pick more damage focused perks for weapons. Can pick one toughness node for an extra talent point:
  1. Heavyweight (Mandatory)
  2. Smash 'Em!
  3. The Best Defense

 

BLITZ/GRENADE SLOT

  • Keep it simple with Frag Bomb for emergencies, clutches, patrols, etc.
  • Have to take a point away to use any other grenade blitz with the extra talent (That One Didn't Count & Bigger Box of Hurt)

 

INDOMITABLE ABILITY MODIFIERS

  • Charge ability is great by itself; all the extra nodes are bonuses and not required. Feel free to take points off to spend elsewhere
  • Stomping Boots is good for instant toughness boost
  • Trample is better than Pulverise, but Pulverise is simpler and weakens all enemies hit

 

BONEBREAKER'S AURA

Aura talent no longer has any talent points in the way for a straightforward pick but is surrounded by some good nodes. We get Beat Them Back for more damage due to mixing lights/heavies and Strike True in order to get Batter for nice bleed damage.

 

BOTTOM LEFT TALENT ROW

We would normally get Heavy Hitter keystone for even more damage and toughness damage reduction, but this build is more for Pubs, so instead we get the old Delight in Destruction and Dominate alongside the new talent Frenzied Blows for when we get the chance to chain attacks in hordes or on a Boss.

 

KEYSTONE TALENT ROW

We go down the left with Attention Seeker and No Pushover to encourage pushing enemies for crowd-control and get both Hard Knocks and No Hurting Friends! to promote teamwork. Then we pick up our keystone Feel No Pain, which isn't the best keystone but let's us get Pained Outburst for saving ourselves in a clutch situation. Any leftover points can be used for keystone support such as Strongest! but is optional.

 

OKAY NOW WHAT?

  • Ranged weapons are very flexible (more variety but still not many choices), feel free to try them all out. Mark V Ripper gun is simply for Can Opener blessing and sniping ranged units with 1-tap weapon swaps.
  • Cleaver can be switched but does very well in all situations with Unstoppable Force. Use single-target combo for elites and heavies for bosses. Both for mixed hordes as stagger interrupts elites in hordes.
  • Find other builds for specialization, such as high Havocs.

 

WAIT WHAT ABOUT CURIOS?

  • For Curios, the build template is good to start but you can substitute one or two of the Toughness perks for something like Sniper Resistance or whatever perk you want. I recommend you keep all 3 Stamina Regeneration perks.
  • Three Damage Resistance (Gunners) perks only applies to the Dreg and Scab Gunners. Higher difficulties such as Damnation and Auric Maelstroms will increase their numbers and can be difficult for Ogryns. At minimum, keep one Damage Resistance (Gunners) and feel free to swap the others.
  • Can also swap a Toughness Curio for a Health Curio if needed, but not necessary. Avoid losing all Toughness and melee bleed-through should be minimal due to your killing power.
  • Do not pick a Stamina or Wound Curio. Not needed.
