Description
You are the Emperor's Spear, driving forward into the eye of the enemy. You do not know fear: you dodge attacks because they slow you down, not because they hurt you. Corruption is your bane, but your blood you gladly give.
This build always wants to be hitting something. Light attacks are good against flak armor, heavy attacks for small hordes, and purge entire rooms by backpedaling and holding down the flamer. The flamer primary is great for soft-CCing groups of Ragers or mixed hordes surrounding your allies. Larger armoured enemy groups are readily dispatched using activated, partially charged heavy attacks.
Before taking this build into battle, memorize the timing for the Hammer Shot:
- Use the hammer special
- Start charging an overhead heavy attack
- At the last moment, use Fury of the Faithful to charge at the boss with 3 stacks of Thrust
- Hit the boss while still in motion, don't run into them THEN swing, since you may get hit first.
- Note the hammer hit box is LONG, so you don't need to be touching the boss when you swing.
- If you miss, simple charge up again and swing if you haven't been staggered as Fury will still be active.
Also, there are some known glitches with the power up animation. Any melee, corruption, or stagger damage will cancel the power up, forcing you to start the combo again - even if it shows the explosion, it won't actually apply the damage if you've been hit.
For extra boss damage, consider unloading 50-100% of a flamer clip into them first to stack 20% brittleness. Then execute the Hammer Shot.
For crushers and maulers, use the special ability then charge to ~1-2 stacks of thrust to 1 hit kill them in the head. Repeat indefinitely while dodging. For Bulwarks, use your special and charge. Just as they swing, dodge left to expose them for a free 1 hit kill.
When against a moderate horde with the hammer, remember to charge up as much as possible on heavy attacks. Occasionally getting hit is good for the soul, getting staggered is not. The more you kill and get killed, the more powerful you are.
As long as you down without corruption damage, you'll be revived at full health. Until death is amazing - make sure to go all-in when it triggers, to heal up as much as possible. Sometimes that means saving your Fury ability Until Death, then using it on a group of poxwalkers to ensure maximum heal.
